Hello! I am saving up to buy a little chi and I was wondering, how much time do you spend with your chi? The morning and when you come home from work? I'm just asking because I don't want to get a dog that will be lonely...♥♥♥

My mom's chihuahua is 13 years old and still wonderful and happy. She is hoem without people for about 8-9 hours a day, but she has 2 cats to hang out with. In reality she sleeps most of that time. She doesn't like walks too much, probably because we didn't start her walking early enough and so now she is nervous about other dogs and loud noises. She prefers to run around in the backyard and chase squirrels.

All my mom does in the morning is let her out and give her food. Usually she checks out the food, goes back to sleep, and eats later on. After work she mostly just wants to sit on someone's lap and watch TV.

This is obviously not an ideal life for many dogs, but for our chi it is the way she lives and she seems very happy!

Hi there. THey are wonderful little dogs that love attention. I work anywhere from 3 hours to 8 hours a day. My little dog is just fine with that. I do have a cat that grew up with my chi and they are best pals. Invesnt in a little cat bed or small dog bed. Lots of squeeky toys as mine seem to love those the best and mine prefer green toys. And by a special fleece blanket or some fleece material as a special blanket for your puppy only. They love to snuggle in and keep warm. Since Chi get cold easily I make sure there are lots of blankets around and when im home I have a heating pad that I put under his bed that I turn on to keep it warm. He once you get home your puppy will love you like you have never been loved. They love attention. You will just love your Chi. I used to love big dogs but after having my chi I would never go back to owning any other breed but chi.

I've got two (to keep each other company). We had just the one, but because my husband and I started working the same hours we didn't want him to get lonely. We bought his half brother a year later (same mom, different dad). I walk them both in the evenings, I get up at 4:30 to put them out and play with them until 6 when I get ready for work. On the weekends I take them to the park. They tend to be independent, so if you work during the day they should be okay if you give them toys to keep themselves company (and I used to keep a radio on), but I feard Mylo would get lonely.
