Religion is not important, and what flavour of religion is even less important.
Spirituality is important. The difference is that religion is someone else telling you what you must do, and spirituality is knowing in your own heart what you must do. Religion is only for weak-minded people who can't think for themselves.

Fundamentalist christianity is not protestism since it did not "break off" from the Catholic Church. The protestants you are referring to are Lutheranism, Calvanism, Methodism, and the like.
Fundamental Baptists have never been associated with the Catholic Church, never came out of it, and therefore are not part of the group you mentioned.
If you want to know what is a lie and what is the truth, then the answers are found in the Holy Bible, God's Holy word (the only true english version being the 1611 King James Bible.)

Brianna,
Your point may be more signifigant than you realize. Most people, Catholic and Protestant, do not even know the origins of their faith. What we know as Christianity today, is not based on the original teaching of Jesus. It was created in the year 325 A.D. At the Council of Nicea. It is a long story, and I strongly suggest you study it. It is where modern Christianity, both Catholic and Protestant came from. The truth is, that Protestants, are really Catholic, whether they want to admit it or not. The keeping of Sunday worship, Christmas and Easter, are all Catholic ordinances, ordained by the various Popes. Jesus was a Jew, as were all of His disciples. They all kept the seventh day Sabbath, as did His followers, for three hundred years after He ascended. Christianity has only one thing in common with the man we call Jesus. His name. They have cast aside His teaching, concerning spiritual rebirth, and substituted the doctrine of "Blood sacrifice", which was invented at the Council of Nicea. In fact, it is called the "Nicene Creed". If you doubt any of this, go to the library, or get on the internet, and study it for yourself. I promise, I didn't make any of it up.

Catholicism is an organized religion, and protestantism comes from them. Athough protestants do not worship idols and icons, they retain most of the teaching of the Catholics. They are called reformed catholics with a denominational name to boast with.
Presently, Protestants and Catholics joined together for the sake of "UNITY IN DIVERSITY" However during one of the meetings of the Cardinals, one cardinal was overheard saying "we declare Jihad with the Christian" which only proves that Islam is the by product of catholicism, an answer to christian faith.
Think about it.

Christ said "On this rock I will build My church" I don't remember reading anything about all of these denominations. I do recall reading the part that said "where two are gathered in My name, there I'll be" I believe that we should answer to the Lord, not to a pope, a convention,or any other organization. By the way I am a Christian, not catholic, not a baptist, not a Methodist, just a Christian.

No, because Protestant means that we protested the lies found in the Catholic Church. Although we are still Christians all, The protestants don't believe in the teachings of the Catholic church. The many religious sects of Protestants have varied beliefs too, but only a few still hold to any of the beliefs in Catholicism.

The the King of England broke off from the Catholic church because he wanted to divorce his wife. So he could marry his mistress In other words "He protested". And became a protestant
That's why Prostestants believe in divorce and Catholics do not.
So. Both are lies in a sense because Man changes them to suit his needs.
True religion cannot be changed.

I would not say the Catholicism is a lie, it does has a number of errors in it, but I do not know of any Christian denomination that does not have it's own errors also.
People are saved it they Trust Jesus as their Savior and seek to do His will.

i'm a catholic theology student, and i gotta tell you, its' really offensive to call some one a Fundie, where's the christian CHARITY to our seperated brethren? Your point is a good one, which is why historically, each break of Protestantism goes further and further away from catholicism. Eg: Anglicanism is one of the oldest Prot. Denom, and looks very much like Cath. Pentecostalism is one of the newest Denoms, and looks very little like Cath. They have to eventually protest Everything (hence the nature of "protestantism").

I guess that would depend on WHY you think Catholicism is a lie. There are several differences between the Catholic and Protestant religions.

You are called a Christian because you are a follower of Christ. If the example set by either/any church group is in direct opposition to the example set by Christ then it cannot be Christian as it does not conform to the person of Christ, His teaching and His actions. Any thing which falls outside of those guidelines are not Christian. They may exist as a result of "Christian" culture, an idea often entirely at odds with the person and example of Christ, but if does not conform to the person of Christ - eject it and have nothing to do with it.
