Good question. The only thing that keeps homosexuality in check is fear of God. (Or, if you are Muslim and in an Islamic country, fear of being stoned to death.)
There was an article in the NY Times on Aug. 3 which you should be able to read for free online for another day or so (free registration required):
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/08/03/fashion/03marriage_bg.html
The article tells of all those married men who discover they are homosexual and either get divorced or not, but either way they have gay sex. I'm sure that nearly all are atheist, and that is the reason they stop loving their wives and get involved with sodomy and other illegal and ungodly stuff.
I used to know a lot of atheists, but they all ran off to San Francisco to use the bath houses there, and in view of that, I fear the answer to your question is that there isn't anything one can do, if an atheist, to resist the temptation to make love to a man.
There's another point that is underlined by what someone else has written in a reply here: it is said that an orgasm is the ultimate holy communion, and that when one makes love in the prescribed biblical manner (which is why, I assume, it is called the "missionary position") one is in a threesome with God. This would be impossible in homosexual love, where the third party is none other but Satan.
Sad, but true. In my humble opinion.

I'm fine with that question.
In the end, the answer is the same regardless of your opinion of certain books. It all comes down to natural sexual attraction - most research shows that sexual preference is something that occurs naturally, whatever form it takes. For me as an atheist who is happily married, I know enough about myself to know who I am sexually attracted to and who I'm not. I'm not sure how immutable and impermeable that is, but it's a moot point now as I'm a married man with no desire to cheat on my wife.
For anybody else, I have no right to judge - and neither does anyone else.

According to Paul there is a relationship between professing the religion of evolution and practicing homosexuality and lesbianism (Romans 1:20-28).

I thought about it. It still makes no sense at all.
How on earth could atheism be related to anything like that? I'm an atheist, and straight as a ruler. Sheesh.

I hope you're joking - that question makes zero sense! Personally, I'm a straight male atheist. I'm attracted to women, not men - it's that easy.

What? Are you gay? This doesnt make sense. If you are atheist, then you would have no problem with accepting this, because you would believe that there is no diety that will punish you.

if an atheist happens to be attracted to the same sex, there is nothing to stop it! homosexuality is only opposed by religion (that, and nature/reproduction).

I am not an athiest. True love comes from Jesus Christ. The other love is worldly and carnal.

1: Why do you assume the respondents are male?
2: What has atheism to do with sex?
