Okay, I think a lot of the answers here are pretty dumb. First off, if she was so concerned with sexual predators, which isn't bad, and I admire her for looking after her little girl, why didn't she ask the police or local authorities for a list of those predators living in the area?
Secondly, it sounds like you're interested in her. Now, if she's the type of woman who's going to overlook the quiet and discreet method of asking the police, you know the people with the information she's concerned about getting, and go around and ask people pretty personal questions, odds are she's a pretty whacked out chick to date, and I wouldn't be surprised see a lot of possessiveness and questions about where you were and who you were with after one or two dates, surely a relationship made in heaven.

I wouldn't take it too personally. She probably just wants to get to know you....but if she if afraid of predators, she might think someone is after her. The world is crazy these days, with stalkers and murderers who get their eye on a pretty girl and don't leave them alone. She might want to make sure your interest in her is purely a safe one, and she is putting her little girl first, which is exactly what she should do. I wouldn't even ask her about what she found out next time you talk to her, I would just let it drop and continue to enjoy getting to know her. Good luck!

Well a mother's first instinct is to protect her child. She knows that the world is not safe anymore, and you cannot trust anyone that easy. She may have used your information for a background check, but as you have said, if you have not commited any crime, there should be no problem.

She will probably do a background check, but I wouldn't be offended. I would probably do the same thing. In this day in age you just never know who people really are. I don't think she means anything by it. She is just protecting her child...and for that I give her kudos.

Put yourself in her position. How would you feel if you were her, a single mom. You would probably do the same thing. There are so many weird people out there, you have to take whatever precautions that you have to take. She was very smart in what she did, if that is what she did. More people should do the same.

We live in a strange world where unfortunately...trust needs to be earned. Sounds like this woman is taking no chances. Don't be offended. She's looking out for her daughter. Lucky little girl.

I've done a sex offender check on people I've met as well as checking my zip code to make sure none live in my immediate area. And she probably did a cursory check on you.
