You can't get married under the age of 16 in England or Wales, and that's with parental permission, otherwise it's 18. You can get married without parental permission at 16 in Scotland. Either way she's too young.

It may well be love rather than infatuation, but whether it would survive the transition into adulthood is another matter altogether. A 14 year old is a child still, it's that simple - however grown up most of them seem to think they are.

And even if they were both 16 and did get married, are they ready to cope with the fact that both families may disown them? Two of my friends are still finding it hard to cope with their parents' disapproval at the age of 30. How exactly were they planning to survive without financial support and with few qualifications? Where were they planning to live and how were they going to find this accommodation with presumably little money? How were they going to pay council tax, gas, electricity, water, insurance etc etc? The world does not run on love unfortunately.

Frankly I'd suggest they might want to think this through properly, as I think they're dreaming if they think any of this will even be possible, let alone easy.

And the fact that they are talking about suicide indicates they are two very unstable people who need help not marriage.

Bernieszu has a point. It sounds just like Romeo and Juliet!

If this is a real situation then tell them to wait. At that age no matter how "in love" they think they are, it is unlikely to last. People change an awful lot between the age of 14 and 20, and again between the age of 20 and 25. I expect that they will both be "in love" a few times before they are 25.

If it's true love then they won't mind waiting a few years. She can't legally marry until she's 16 anyway (only in Scotland if her parents don't know about it)

You need to tell both parents now!! That's a big thing with the sucide pack relationship. I saw a special on TV about how hundreds of young teens kill themselves with another in a lovers pack. These kids need mental help! Please seek out some help for each of them. If they are talking sucide that's not a mature stable person who wants to get married. I love my FI with all my heart but I would never kill myself with him!!

It is too early...

They can continue their relation but marriage at this age is not a mature decision....

They have to hide their relation from their family till they will not stand their own feet and earn something, otherwise who will give shelter after marriage?

in the uk they have to be 18 to marry without their parents consent, and ideally it should be after this, but seriously they need help if they are considering suicide

ask them to wait for another 5 years before confirming that it really is luv which they share, then let them marry happily, there is no law which tells they shouldn't .
