Zakāh, the paying of alms
A major principle of Islam is the belief that all things belong to God and that wealth is only held by human beings in trust. The word zakah means both purification and growth. Each Muslim calculates his or her own zakah individually, and for most purposes this involves the payment each year of two and a half percent of one's capital in excess of one's basic needs. A Muslim may also donate an additional amount as an act of voluntary charity (sadaqah), in order to achieve additional divine reward.
Zakat is calculated on the basis of an amount in excess of what remains, after the needs of the family have been met.
Zakât is distributed among 8 categories of people:
Faqir - One who has neither material possessions nor means of livelihood.
Miskin - One with insufficient means of livelihood to meet basic needs.
Amil - Workers associated with the collection and distribution of Zakat.
Muallafathul Quloob - One who converts to Islam. Literally those whose hearts are softened. Some scholars claim this also refers to poor non-muslims who do not have enmity towards Muslims.
Riqab - One who wants to free himself from bondage or the shackles of slavery.
Gharmin - One who is in debt (money borrowed to meet basic, halal expenditure).
Fisabillillah - Literal meaning 'In the way of God', but it is used for Jihad.
Ibnus Sabil - One who is stranded in journey.
Now before you think that I just proved your point, let's talk about how everyone has a misconseption of the term JIHAD. When a Muslim gives money away for the purpose of jihad it does NOT mean terrorisims.
Why? Well here's the TRUE meaning of Jihad in Islam:
The term "jihad" is often rendered in western languages and non-Islamic cultures as "holy war", but this "physical" struggle, which encompasses religion, only makes up part of the broader meaning of the concept of jihad. (The term 'holy war' was coined by the Crusaders who fought the Muslims for control of the Holy Land.) The denotation is of a struggle, challenge, difficulty or (frequently) opposed effort, made either in accomplishment or as resistance. A person who engages in any form of jihad can be called a mujahid (in plural: mujahidin) (Arabic: striver, struggler), a term even more often applied to groups who practice armed struggle in the name of Islam. Such a person might engage in fighting as a military struggle for religious reasons, or for example, struggle to memorize the Qur'an. Jihad has a negative connotation and reputation in much of the West, on par with the reaction to the Christian term crusade in much of the Islamic world.
Muslim scholars explained there are five kinds of jihad fi sabilillah (struggle in the cause of God) [1]:
Jihad of the heart/soul (jihad bin nafs/qalb) is an inner struggle of good against evil in the mind, through concepts such as tawhid.
Jihad by the tongue (jihad bil lisan) is a struggle of good against evil waged by writing and speech, such as in the form of dawah (proselytizing), Khutbas (sermons), and political or military propaganda.
Jihad by the pen and knowledge (jihad bil qalam/ilm) is a struggle for good against evil through scholarly study of Islam, ijtihad (legal reasoning), and through sciences (such as military and medical sciences).
Jihad by the hand (jihad bil yad) refers to a struggle of good against evil waged by actions or with one's wealth, such as going on the Hajj pilgrimage (seen as the best jihad for women), taking care of elderly parents, providing funding for jihad, political activity for furthering the cause of Islam, stopping evil by force, or espionage.
Jihad of peace refers to the struggle to make peace in the world, everywhere and anywhere, in order to improve the image of Islam and thus spread Islam. Only peaceful methods are allowed in this strategic interpretation of jihad.
Jihad by the sword (jihad bis saif) refers to qital fi sabilillah (armed fighting in the way of God, or holy war).
As you can see Jihad by the sword is always a last resort! Giving zakat to Jihad could mean covering expenses of Islamic Books, covering expenses of someone's Hajj, paying the expenses for an Islamic seminar or even a tuition of a Muslim studyin Islamic Law for example!
As far as true Muslims are concerned, terrorists do NOT represent Islam.
And as far as where terrorists get their funding I wouldn't be surprised if the idiot George Bush is the one giving them all the money. The also probably fund themselves.

Hey, you have the same last name as me! Well anyhow, I think you take too much of a steady digest of Fox news. The first 6 questions are generalizations. America during the cold war actually sponsored Osama Bin Laden andd other terrorist leaders with weapons and money to drive out Soviet forces from Afghanistan, and now, they're putting the blame on Saddam Hussein, who had absolutely nothing to do with this mess.

What an ignorant fool. We don't give charity to terrorists!!! Islam denounces terrorism!
Noble Qur'an: "If anyone killed a human being without justification, it is as if he killed the whole mankind"
Charity is given to:
-The poor and needy
-People who are foreigners and have no money (In an Islamic country-----> TOLERANCE
-People who newly entered Islam (And needy)
Remember that Bin Laden was taught by US itself!! Which means The US made a terrorist!
