As regards Hindus a significant minorities among them, that is about 25-30% of them are total vegetarians and they do not consume any meat. For others only beef is forbidden. During religious festivals they obstain from consuming meat.

I know Muslims don't eat pork, and only eat meat that is prepared 'hallal'. Hallal is a blessing/prayer for the sacrifice of the animal. Of the Hindu's I've known, they're all vegetarian.
