Well, did you say something like "speak Lord for your servant hears you" like Samuel did when he was a young boy living with Eli in the temple and heard his name being called?
If not, why don't you try that the next time because otherwise all anyone can tell you is that it was either 1) God 2) your imagination 3) some seducing spirit 4) an audio hallucination or 5) someone playing a trick or you or you heard something else and just thought it was your name.
If it was God I have to wonder why He didn't say more, but then again it could be many reasons that go beyond our understanding. Like maybe He wants to speak to you through the book of 1 Samuel or some other passage of the Bible like that.
Why don't you pray about it and see if you can sense God leading you in a certain direction.
James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
Philippians 4:6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

If you have a cat it might have been that... But seriously, if it was before going to sleep you must have been in the process of the sleeping ritual, where there are many chemicals and things all working, of something was to go slightly wrong you could have been sent into a sleeping wakeness were certain element of being asleep such as hallucinations and dreaming occur, apparently these people can see bright lights, sounds, even figures or other things in their room whilst being in this sleep wakness... It can happen subtle quite a lot during our life, these things are also some causes of people claiming to be abducted by aliens, whereas religious people may believe they have seen some one from the Bible such as God or Jesus and so on... so it is quite inevitable that this happened.

Where you almost on the brink of sleep? This used to happen to me but it has not happened for a while. It sounds like someone is talking to you as if you really hear a voice, right? I wasn't reading the Bible per se but my thoughts were almost always on or about God. Its kinda cool..but a little freaky too. It'll prolly happen again when you least expect it. It could be God...but more likely its some sort of weird brain phenomina (sp) like with Deja Vu. I'd rather think that its God though..but the voice sounded kinda regular...not Charlton Hestony or Gregory Peckish like one might attribute to God sounding like..or British...we always seem to think God has a British accent. Huh...wow. I'm really taking this answer to far so I'll stop now. Love in Christ, ~J~ <><

If it was a gentle voice, then it was probably the Holy Spirit confirming fellowship. Since you were reading the Bible it was definitely a spiritual communication. If the voice was rude and loud, it was probably the devil trying to interrupt your meditation. In either case, reading the Bible before bedtime is always a good thing to do and I recommend highly, particularly for people who have trouble sleeping or who have demonic dreams or disturbed sleep. Memorize Psalm 23, the most powerful scripture in the Bible. If you are attacked in your sleep by demons recite it over and over until they leave you. It has always worked for me. Jesus loves you.

Ever watched the Exorcist? All evil usually begins at 3am, and it did exactly that in that movie. Keep praying and ignore the name, because it is the Devil. I've had a really bad experience at 3am, and it wasnt a good feeling. Email if you'd like to know what happened

I think it could well have been God. I think you know the answer in your heart. If you know God, you will know his voice. I have never heard the audible voice of God but when he speaks to my spirit I recognise his voice. (Read the beginning of John 10.) Ask God for discernment and he will give it to you. Hope that helps. It sounds very exciting!
After reading Mr Yaser's post I would like to say he does call us by name, he knows everyone of us by name! I have recently written down what he has been doing in my life the past five years, and I have realised he has been talking to me all the time. It is always so personal. He knows each one of us by heart.

an honest answer.
you think so because you were reading bible at that time.
if you were lonely and it was dark and your were not reading the bible, you may have thought it was some devil that was calling you.
its nothing but your imagination,
God exist but he is not interested in doing such things. His messege comes through his prophets. Bible is the Gods messege with you so He doesnt needs to communicate with you again. you should know that Quran Bible Torah are all His messeges which are enough for human guidence.

If you are serious ... then my answer is keep listening. God speaks in a "still small voice." He speaks to me much more often that He did in the beginning. You might want to get a copy of the book "God Calling." It is a journal of two women who listened for the voice of God. You can get the book at the Christian book stores.
Lots of Love,
Cathy

Yes. the voice could have been GOD, are you looking for an answer to something?? Well, it also depends on the kind of person you are, but if you are religious and believe in God and that his son died on the cross for our sins then very well it probably was God, be happy!

YES! I HAD THAT TOO AT 3AM!! I've had it happen three or four times to me but I just turned over and went to sleep...now I'm waiting for the voice to happen again...it was so loud and so clear, it woke me up straight away... Next time it happens, just say, 'here I am Lord' like the bible said..
