when its cold my chest is more painful, when inhaling smoke i end up with chest pains and when asleep there is a noise coming from chest when inhailing. i can not run or walk fast. i am anone smoker but i use firewood for heat. i did not get any x-ray since i started treatment.

Yes, it sounds like your doctor is on the right track. You won't feel better right away. 6-12 months treatment is standard. I'm sure your doctor told you already, but its EXTREMELY important that you take all your medicine as directed. If you don't, you spread the TB, plus you dramatically increase the chance that you will acquire drug-resistant TB and get even sicker, and die.

You don't say how long you have been on the medicine; if it's close to 6 months, and you still feel sick, definitely tell your doctor. But if you just started (a few weeks) it will take awhile to start feeling better.

Stick with the treatment to its full term, even if you feel better half way through. TB is very slow growing and could come back if not treated correctly.

Your doctor is correct, mostly. The correct method for treating tb is to ALWAYS use two drugs. It prevents the formation of drug resistant strains. Also, be absolutely sure that you take every dose, for the prescribed period of time.

I would stick to your doctors advice but, I you really question his method or treatment and diagnosis, go for a second opinion.
