my b.l.o.o.d.y brother!!! plz help i cant take it anymore!!?

we live in a little village in practically the middle of nowhere and my god awful brother keeps taking all the work...my parents wont give us any money we have to go out and work for it fair enough but i cant get any cuz my bro has taken all the work...i wanna go out with my friends but just cant afford it i've spoken to my parents and my brother and there is nothing they can do and they dont want to he only does stuff like mowin lawns and washing cars but he gets loadsa money he saved upp enough money to buy a 30 gig ipod in 1 month he's even taken the only paper round for miles its the summer holidays and i cant face being stuck home all the time its making me depressed...i got so bored i volanterily cleaned the entire house for nothing this isnt natural as i'm normally a messy little c.o.w i ask if they have any work and its " no dear your brother is doing it" wtf am i gonna do i cant take this anymore i need to be active and doing something i need something to look forward to!!help

i'm 14 and he's 15 i'm not complaining that he's got work but its just we agreed to be considerate to eachother about this and i have but he wont he stole all my work in the first place and does every job he can think of he has so much work i'm surprised he's not falling asleep my parents cant really afford to pay me even if i cleaned the whole house all the time and i feel bad for asking them it costs a lot of money to do anything and i cant undercut his prices cuz they say they've already said he could have the work i dont feel very good about takin the money anyway bcuz loadsa them r so nice and o.a.ps i just wanna have some fun but for that i need money its really expensive around here he wont share or let me work for him i've begged and pleaded he has everything he ever wanted and more and all i want is a fighting chance is that so bad??

thanks for all your answer so far but have you got any better 1's they've alredy been taken ppl wont give me work even if its at the same standard but 4 1/2 cut prices cuz they're loyal he's got work booked in untill the end of the summer hols i btw i sed i live in the middle of nowhere r no farms there that will give me work i tried them all 2day do any of you wanna give me a job (now you KNOW i'm desperate for work!!)

Babysitting is a good option in the summer holidays during the daytime, there are plenty of parents like me going spare because they are stuck with the kids 24/7 and they need an hour's peace. provided you're old enough and have somebody who can vouch for your good character this may be an option for you. You can place a card in the post office pretty cheaply. Babysitting tends to be a girl dominated chore so i doubt your little brother will want to butt in.

If this doesn't sound like your kind of thing or you are too young then try dog walking too, you'll get plenty of exercise and like babysitting it can be fun because you get to hand back the dog/child at the end!

You could try doing some ebay trading, or organising some stuff to go off to the local car boot with your mum or dad, it's also pretty good fun if you don't mind getting up early. You can make a lot of money from what seems like stuff which isn't worth a lot. Girls seem to do very well selling fashion items on ebay it's a great way to get some money to buy yourself new trendy stuff.

keep your eyes open for little part time jobs in the local paper suitable for somebody your age, and consider travelling a short way in order to work.

have a chat with your mum and ask her to consider paying you for doing the laundry, I hate ironing and most mums do- I would gladly pay my daughter a little bit of money to do that particular chore!

You can't really blame your brother, the answer is to use your initiative to beat him at his own game. Look at your skills and keep your eyes open for opportunity and you're sure to make some money too

How did he steal your work? Maybe he did it a bit better or faster? Watch him and learn how he does it. Then apply what you have learned to different kinds of service you could offer. If you're in the middle of nowhere there are bound to be some farms around the village - have you tried looking for seasonal work? It's harvest time, or nearly harvest time, now - surely you could get some crop picking work if you asked around, or babysitting the farmer's kids to free up the adults for harvest if there's dangerous machinery involved.

Why do I get the feeling that you're having a little chuckle inside as you read the answers?

Oh dear what a meanie of a brother you have hey, look I know this sounds a horrible job but have you asked around if anyone wants there cooker/oven cleaning, most people hate doing their own cookers and would gladly pay someone to do that for them, don't tell your brother about the idea though as he will obviously get in there before you, how about seeing if anyone wants their gates or fences repainted, ironing, child minding, babysitting, dog walking, house sitting, just don't tell that greedy money hog of a brother of yours what your planning or he will be very rich soon, good luck hope you find a way of making money very soon.

As the others have said, undercut his prices!

If all else fails, why not use the time to learn to cook - it'll stand you in good stead all your life. I'm sure your Mum would love it if you offered to cook the family meal most evenings (I know I did when my daughter wanted to learn to cook!), even if she did have to come and show you what to do the first few times. And she might help you work out about planning meals, and what to do with leftovers, and all the sort of stuff that you'll need to know once you're away from home.

Try and find a different angle. I would really like to find someone to do my ironing for me and I'm sure a lot of other people would. I know I'd pay generously too. What about weeding peoples gardens or are there any fruit picking places about - they're always a good bet. Failing that remember the early bird gets the worm, so get in there first.

Is there as shop in a near by village that you can get to (and yes I know you said you live in the middle of no where). If so go to it and see if there is a shop or a bakery that wants a part time helper.

How about knocking on your neighbours' doors and offering to do some housework for them. You could wash windows, do hoovering, ironing, babysitting, dog-walking etc. Really mundane I know, but it beats sitting at home going mad and it will also get you cash. Somehow, I can't see your brother going for those types of jobs!
