Hhhhmmmm
Living in Britain now after many years residence in the States, I can't say that accents are a "big" crowd pleaser here. Bush/Blair and the war haven't made Americans or their accents terribly popular. "Plumy" upper-class accents are not popular amongst the British middle class.
Yes it's true American's do like "English" accents, generally they can't distinguish where it's from tho'.
A French accent can be very seductive and charming. So can an Argentine one. And hearing a South African or Aussie one out of no where, can be fun!

lol I'm a Welshman and my wife's American, and every now and again I'll say something and she'll go all dreamy, then reassure me "You know I'm not just with you for the accent, right?" :o)
Personally, and this isn't the cop-out it sounds like, but there are American accents I really like, and Canadian is cool too. Scottish accents are regularly reported as being most popular, and I can see why. And some African accents are just incredibly beautiful. All of these can make me think "I don't care what you say, just keep talking..." :o)

Ok, took a small survey around the office here (In the UK, mix US and Brits, an Austrilaian, and a few others).
From a British mans view:
1) French
2) Deep South USA

I'm going to vote for the welshmen, maybe because no-one else might vote for them.
But in my opinion the welsh accent is great. Honestly.
