ah the age old philosophical question that has alluded the greatest minds for years. Why indeed did this chicken cross the road? Who was this chicken? and why did crossing the road make philosophical history for man kind and make countless adults roll their eyes in despair when told this joke by a 5 year old followed by "to get to the other side"
and I ask you does any creature really need any other reason to cross a road other than to get to the other side? A chicken being the stupid creature that it is probably didn't know anything about road safety. And I doubt that such a simple creature would have the cognition to think of any better reason. Maybe it was running from a fox, maybe it smelt food on the other side, perhaps the grain is simply always tastier on the other side! Did it ever make it to the other side? These details have been lost to the mists of time.
Personally I feel the answer to why the chicken crossed the road is very simple. The only parking space was on the other side of the road and hence after her trip to the super market she had to carry her frozen packaged chicken across the road from her car to her house and to the oven for her dear husbands Sunday roast!
I hope this puts your mind at rest. And next time you cross the road take a second to wonder why you are doing it!
