The color on the front of the box is what you are adding to your natural color, not what the end result will be. Many permanent hair dyes call for 45 minutes leave on time, you might not be leaving it on long enough. Look at the side of the box, it will show before and after pictures of what your hair will look like.
It may take more than one use to get your hair the color you want it. If you have gray or white hair, it can be more stubborn to dye. Get a more expensive product, not one of the cheap ones. If you can't get anything to work, go to a salon to have it done.

ok so you run into the same problem as many other ladies with grey and white hair.
if you choose to do your hair yourself, then you need to look at your natural color first.
this will determine if you can even achieve the results that the box says you are going to get.
your best bet at this point is to go have a consultation with a stylist.
consultations are usually free and the stylist can help you figure out your natural level better than I can when i can't see you.
after you figure that out then you can ask how many levels lighter you can go before it starts to make your complexion look washed out or your hair too brassy.
using a higher volume peroxide can make your hair look brassier than a lower volume peroxide.
one more word of advice: make sure he/she knows what the undertone of your natural level is before you apply any color.
this will also help in deciding how many levels lighter you go and what base the color has. good luck

Depends what your natural hair colour is. If you are naturally very dark you might need to use a colour with bleach in it to lighten your hair.

On most hair colours it has a scale on the side of the box to says what colour it should turn out from your natural colour.

Go to the hairdressers, they will do it perfect for you!

Sometimes if your hair's too dark...it can't take because usually the natrual color is too strong for the dye to break it up. You would need to either get it professionally done, or use a product with peroxide.

Same problem here! I coloured my hair last night, it was supposed to be intense deepest red but its nowhere near! Wish I hadn`t bothered, or as others on here say, visited my friend in her salon and got it done properly.

Every hair is different, getting the color you want depends on the natural color of your hair.. For example, we have three color.. dark red, medium red and light red.. if the natural color of your hair is dark, you should use a lighter shade of colour so it will show the medium red. It not really on the brand...
