People, generally, don't misspell ''everything'', it's a simple word, anybody can write.

Some people simply do not care if they misspell words. There are many who think it is hip to spell things askew. Boi is quite common as is XLENT, in fact there is a flurry of words which have cropped - - - once upon a time tonite was viewed with dread. Ignorance is hard to measure - - - if you take into count only America a majority said "Hey, Let's Go to War with Iraq," were they ignorant - - - how about those that use the word Liberal is place of the outlawed N word? Actually if you peruse the Yahoo Q & A enough you will actually find a lot of smart people. Ignorance can be misread. Check out the Novel Deliverance by James Dickey or the Movie by John Boorhan for examples how difficult it can be misjudging ignorance in others. It can literally be a pain in the A S S. Peace - - - Piece - - -
PS / and the spell checker often leads one astray !!!

1. Spelling is not their forte.
2. They could use a dictionary to increase their spelling skills & vocabulary. There are many online that students, writers, teachers, anyone can use.
3. Don't assume that someone is ignorant just because they can't spell. Some people also have dyslexia.
4. Yes, some people are not polished in their education, but no one is. There's always something new to learn, and if you study the AmE, you will see how far it has evolved in 150 years, for instance.
5. Help the individual by using the correct spelling in your response. It's a polite way of helping them.

We care because using the correct spelling makes it easier to read. It may amaze you, but there are people in this world who do not instantly understand the meaning of "PLZZ WT I BUY 4 MY BFS BDAY" but would be fine if only it said "Please, what do I buy for my boyfriend's birthday?" And that's just the shorthand, which at least has rules even if they aren't proper English. The actual misspellings are worse. Some of these questions are so poorly written I can't even make out what they're saying.

there are a lot of younger people that use this function of yahoo. Also some can just look over it and think that they spelled things right. Along with words that sound similar. Yes the spell check feature is good but laziness is a big factor.

Because most of them are really incredibly ignorant. I never knew there were so many illiterate morons in the whole world until I came here. And the worst part is, there's a built-in spell checker here and NOBODY USES IT. Morons.

Why do so many people care that they misspell. Just let them be. Chill. Were not in School anymore.

I think a lack of education, compounded by"what happens when cousins/12 year olds breed"is the main problem. What I really dont like is the use of mobile phone txtspk.Theres a full keyboard here, why dont they use it.
The spell checker is of limited use,as it cant distinguish the context;there/their etc
Also the checker quite often throws up non-existant words
