have you taken the dog to the vet? he could have worms or some kind of infection.
wait and see what happens. what did the dogs parents look like? is one a lot smaller than the other?
my pit bull looked scrawny until he was about two. then his head started growing and his body started getting a lot of muscle.
you might have a late bloomer. but keep up with the vet visits and keep food out for him at all times and lots of water.
could it be that he just doesnt like the food you are giving him?

I have a red nose Pit female, and she was a rescue from the streets. She was @ 6 mos when I got her. Had only been lose for 2 wks max, but was only about 10-15 lbs. Talk skinny. I'll have had her 2 yrs on Thanksgiving, and she is still a runt compared to other pits her age and height. She eats like a horse and is still only about 45 lbs maybe a little more. My 8 year old son can pick her up with no problem. I talked to a breeder and was told she may bulk a little when we breed her, if we do.
So, don't fret. If vet says everything is fine physically, then just chalk it up to genetics. He could be a throwback to a smaller ancestor and may never be cujo.
Also- I hope your not fighting him, it's cruel and those people should be shot.!
It's because of people like that that pits have such a bad rep.
Mine wouldn't hurt a fly. I have a 1 yr old baby and she climbs, tugs and pulls every part of my pit and she has never even lifted a lip at her.
So please don't make that prob worse by being a part of that!

What are you feeding him?...His legs shouldn't be that mis-proportioned, I would ask the vet, even just call him and ask. Maybe he is not growing right, and if there maybe something you can do for it, before it becomes a HUGE issue as an adult. You may just have to change the dog food. Hard to say...as for the skinny part, he may not be gaining weight because of an internal parasite. Not all parasites shed at the time of checking a fecal sample at the hospital. So the test may have been negative, but in fact he may have them. Ask your vet to deworm him anyways. Now as for the brown tinge...it may just be a result of his blue coloring. Or he is dirty...lol - j/k
What did his parents look like? Or was he a product of back yard breeding? uugg...

Was he the runt of the littler? I have three Basset Hounds and they are 1 year old. I have one male and two females... the little boy weighs only 35 lbs while the females both way about 50 lbs. Could be that or he could just be a late bloomer. Be sure to feed him a good food, (try canned if he won't eat the dry) and make sure he has all his shots and other preventitive meds. If the vet says he's fine, then there is probably nothing to worry about... Good luck!

I have one pit mix and one amstaff, the pit was a rescue and starved when we found her. shes filled out a lot now but still slender at 1 year old. the amstaff was bony and skinny at 3 months but he filled out incredibly and now is massive at 1 year old. he has growing spurts every so often and gets a little bigger, sometimes we think hes got great dane in him!! anyway some dogs are just slimmer naturally....i also had a staffie in england and he was slim for years, and suddenly filled out at about 4 years old. maybe give the slim dog fried fat to put a bit of weight on him? like the fat that you trim off chicken and pork. not too much though because of colesteral. also has for the back legs looking bigger, my amstaff was the same, he had huge hip bones that just stuck up in the air, but it seems now it was his big bone build making way for his now large body. don't worry, even if he does stay skinny, hes not unhealthy!

Hmmm, don't know much about these dogs, but you may want to just watch him, if he is not energetic, or seams to not be feeling too well, maybe he should go to the vet, but if he seams alright, I wouldn't worry about it, each dog is different in some way. Just watch him, make sure his energy level is the same and he is happy and is eating. You may want to try setting a set time for him to eat, this way you can make sure he eats his food. Hope this helps a bit.

If you offer your dog food, and he doesn't want it, mix in some low-salt, fat-free broth. His appetite may need stimulation.
Also..........it's possible for a female dog to have puppies by more than one male.
Many puppies go through an ugly stage, ask the breeder what she/he thinks about your puppies development. Any reputable breeder will be happy to answer your questions. I raise Yorkshire
Terriers, and people call me all the time, with problems, or questions, or just to let me know how good the puppy is doing.

Like people some dogs are fat and some are skinny. As long as the vet says he is okay and he is showing no signs of being sick other than being skinny, I wouldn't worry about it. Not sure about the leg thing.

Has he been wormed?
He could be taking after the mom and his brother after the dad.
Could also be the food. Ask what the other dog is being fed. If you do change food , do it slowly so his tummy doesn't get upset.

You might want to watch to make sure the larger dog isn't eating the smaller one's food
