Both are bad for you. They contain aspartame, an artificial sweetener that has been shown to play a role in a whole spectrum of diseases. They also contain caffeine, but that's less harmful than aspartame. If you must have a fizzy drink, try sparkling water. It is wholesome and replenishes the fluids lost during a workout.

my boyfriend is a major health freak. he has told me numerous times to not drink diet drinks because they are so bad for you. he read up on some study they did with people drinking regular coke and the other half drinking diet coke. They had them work out and apparently the drinkers of regular coke improved a lot more than those drinking diet drinks. He also told me that he read that diet drinks have chemicals that make you addicted to it. This is all things ive heard second hand so i dont have any proof or anything. i think he may have read that from a book in his college health class though...i wish i knew more but it was awhile ago he told me about it! sorry if that wasnt as helpful as you wanted but my suggestion is that if youre trying to be healthy then you should try to not drink it no kind of soda is good for you!!

Diet or regular Coke or Pepsi its bad for you. I watched an experiment where they put a tooth in a cup of soda pop and it turned to rubber. What you should be drinking is natural juices and lots of water.

yes its simply bad for you diet or not. the chemicals that are used to create aparatame are apparently from the same family as formaldyhyde, and essentially when asparatme heats to your bodys temp. it beings to preserve your organs (not in a good way) Aspartame controversy Main article: Aspartame controversy Aspartame has been the subject of a vigorous public controversy regarding its safety and the circumstances around its approval. Some studies have also recommended further investigation into connections between aspartame and diseases such as brain tumors, brain lesions, and lymphoma. [4] [5] [6] These findings, combined with notable conflicts of interest in the approval process, have engendered vocal activism regarding the possible risks of aspartame.[7] [8]

The short answer is YES!!
Soda is not good for you. If you want a fizzy drink, try sparkling water or a sparking juice drink without the added sugar or artificial sweeteners.

Salam Alay Koom,
It is not healthy. It has artificial additives in it and artificial sweetners. It stains teeth. Drink water or carbonated water or spring water(Perrier is good.)
I used to teach English in Al Ain at the UAE University. I love the UAE! I am from Canada.

Some studies have shown that too much artificial sweeteners, such as those used in diet sodas, have caused cancer in lab mice. Of course, in large doses, what doesn't give you cancer these days? ;-)
Seriously though, I would stick to perhaps ginger ale, club soda, or seltzer water if you want something carbonated. Sodas have a tendency to make you retain water too.
