My wife had to have her gall bladder removed after being misdiagnosed by the NHS for 4 years! This has left her unab;e to enjoy her favourite foods and alcoholic drinks, as her pancreas can no longer handle them. Is there an alternative to drinking alchol without the bad effects? And is there anything she can take to help keep her pancreas strong?

Well keep the pancreas strong by not eating sugary foods or alcohols. The next thing to getting drunk would be getting high via marijuana. You can't get drunk without ingesting alcohol but if she needs to feel intoxicated then she has mental issues and should psychiatric help.

Several years ago there was a survey carried out with a group of people at a party.
They were split into two groups, neither group knew what was happening. Half the group were given alcoholic wine the others were given non-alcholic wine. Believe it or not every member of each group ended up feeling drunk.
Which surley proves that it is not the alcohol which affects you but more the company you are in.

At a great party you can get really into the spirit of things even if all you're drinking is fizzy water!

Fizzy water is good, actually, as who knows it doesn't have gin or vodka in it? If your wife doesn't care for it, lime and soda or blackcurrant and soda are good alternatives.

I have always been led to believe that walnuts have a large alcohol content and that if one eats enough of them that they can actually make you drunk ! I Guess you'd have to be a little nuts to try it though lol.

what about a nice long weekend in Amsterdam, what goes there stays there ... Due to the wife condition I'd ask your GP first [or a younger GP], they're quite open minded now a days ...

There is a fountain of joy in every one of us. If we throw away the crutches of intoxicants and delve deep within, we can find. Thereafter you will need no inebriation. That is everlasting joy.

I know this will be seen as a very boring answer, but you really don't need alcohol to have a good time - honest!
