This question is for all you bashers of Islam and people who think they are experts on Islam by watching FOX news/CNN, and have not even opened up the Quran to read the words. Would you tell a Muslim the things you say on this website in front of them. Would you tell them how much you hate their religion and ask them are you a terrorist/extremist.... or would you only type with those fingers and let out your ignorant beliefs on a computer screen.
I see many henious acts committed by Christians. I cannot point my finger to all Christians and bash their religion. I cannot link acts by the terrorist Bush and label his Christianity as Extremist Christianity. I say he is far away from Christianity period..
Why don't you LEARN about the religion from a good source then you can speak out.Would it be right for me to learn about Airplanes from a doctor Would it be right for me to learn about Christianity from a Buddist monk.I rather go to a reliable source. Use your own God given mind plz

Gay person...No religion will except gay people...how the heck will they procreate. That is completely abnormal. You look into history and see who is really tolerant and who is not. I know you have NOT read the Quran and read the history or present to see how tolerant Muslims are. We are very tolerant

Roy you don't know any history or you are reading the wrong books. Read The People's History of United states by Howard Zinn (non-Muslim) then you will get a nice clear picture without the fog. Our religion has not been in war for 1500 years it is not even that old. Wake up!! When Muslims ruled their was mostly peace amongst religions. Christians have not been in crusade but their are Christians who did some horrible crimes. I am referring to Hiroshima/Nagasaki, native american indians, AA slaves, Japenese conc. camps, just to name a few. Open your eyes and open a book.

Secular you honestly don't make any sense..."All religion is destructive." If it was not for religion suicide rate would be #1 cause of death. Why the heck would I want to live 50,60,70,100 years of pain, tests, anguish, a little fun then that is it no more after-life. Screw that I rather shoot myself and make the process go faster. I believe in the hereafter and so is the mother that lost their 10 year old son. The reason for all the destruction is because people are running away from the truth teachings of Islam, Christianity, and Judaism. These religion for the most part teach mercy and compassion for the weak, obviously this is about race and ethinicity. Israeli blood is more sacred than Arab blood...Atheist are just lost trying to find a solution and something to attach to.

Please don't get all worked up over a bunch if idiots. Most of these people don't even vote. They are not the majority. Far too many of us Americans and Christians realize that all Muslims aren't terrorists. Please give us some credit too!
(I was raised Catholic, by the way)
Here are some typical things I've found online:
"Jesus is revered within Islam as a prophet, too.” http://www.egypttoday.com/article.aspx?ArticleID=6451
"Muslims respect and revere Jesus (peace be upon Him) , and await his Second Coming. They consider him one of the greatest of God's Messengers to mankind. A Muslim never refers to him simply as 'Jesus' (peace be upon Him) , but always adds the phrase 'upon him be peace'."
http://www.iad.org/Islam/jesus.html
This puts Muslims in a very good light as far as I'm concerned. I think we can all learn something from the respect your people show 'our' God.
One of the problems I personally have is that Muslims suppress women, so that's a problem for me. Then again, I don't live in a Muslim country so that's really your business, isn't it?

I know, the amount of hatred and racist remarks on here is simply apalling.
I think that all the hate on this and any other site is simply because of ignorance and intolerance. People are so close minded and believe everything that the media and government tells them simply because they are far too lazy to be inconvenienced by the act of thinking for themselves. If only people would realize that deep down we are all the same and that there are good and bad people from every religion, ethnicity and culture then the world would be a much better place.
We all deserve to be treated equally and with respect. The terrorist acts in recent times were a tragedy, but they were acted out by radicals, extremists and the horror was felt by people of every different background. We have had terrorists from our own country cause havoc through bombings and such, but we as a whole dismissed those happenings as bad apples, or poor upbringings. People are just too quick to blame others, and are scared of what they dont know. Muslims have strong culture and religion, which threatens alot of people.
Ignorance breeds intolerance and hatred. Its time that we nip it in the bud dont you think? Ultimately we are all the same, and its time to realize it and act upon it.

I haven't seen christian's in a holy war for god since the crusades which where at heart a holy war anyway. Why DON"T YOU LEARN ABOUT IT, it is a religious that has been at war since its inception with both itself and outsiders muhammad led 27 battles himself and sent out 65. After the battles he lost he would going pilage a jewish settlement for satifaction, LOOK THAT UP, I have never said anything negative about the religion as a whole or generalized comment. But I am sorry any belief that has been at war for 1500 years has a few things to work out. The fact seems to be that mulisms ignore the fact that basis of the belief is christianity and the curan and hadith are addition to the other books after the fact, and how does one possible prophet take more precedence other the others and become the only one to listen to?

Because, along with most religious people, they are ignorant and shower hate upon the other religion. They do not take time to learn about the other one.
Plus, this site seems to be full of ignorant people that spam "I hate Bush" for no apparent reason, I imagine they all have an iPod too. It's the cool thing to do now-a-days, hate bush.
When will people learn Atheism is the only way?

I don't believe in relgion period. It causes wars. You wouldn't get the chance to tell a muslim because they probably have bombs attached to them. :-) Scary. Terrorist Bush? That's just ignorant, and he's not fighting in the name of Christianity. The only people bringing religion into it are terrorist who say allah tells me this, allah tells me that. Bush is fighting against terrorism- not muslims. It's just that 90% of the time terrorist happen to be Muslim, who's fault there?

There is a lot of Islam bashing going on on this site. I think a lot of it is a reaction to people trying to tell us that eastern values are equal to our own.
I know that where I live they are not allowing people to advertise alcohol outside a mosque. I find this very frustrating as it's quite clear to me that Islamic culture is repressive and many decades behind the times. It's very important that people don't let Islam gain a foothold through over-liberal social policies.
(It's equally important to keep fundamentalist Christians at bay)

As being someone who is gay, I bash on Islam because i have heard so much bad stuff about isalmic views on gays.
1. muslim members in UK parliament wanted to like propose prison for gay sex, and one even suggested the DEATH penalty i believe.
2. they hang muslims.. look at what happened in iran
3. intolerant.. besides malcom X and that guy running for representative in minnesotta, most muslims are intolerant.
my views.. i have studied islam. don't like the negative, in tolerance.

The problem is not just Islam, the problem should be viewed from the wider context of religion in general. I am not specifically anti Islam or Jew or Christian... But I am anti-religion and in particular, the intolerance that it often breeds. Thus, I am not picking on one particular religion and saying this religion is good and that religion is bad (which by the way is exactly what many religious fundamentalists do, this is why religion is so divisive).
To be clear, what I am saying, is that religion is responsible for a lot of misery and destruction. It is true that one can measure the destructive nature of one religion over another, this is something that can be objectively measured. Thus without attacking Islam, but just identifying an honest fact of reality... More violence is perpetuated in the name of Islam today, than in the name of any other religion.
My point here, is not to single out Islam. My point is, that all religion is destructive. Indeed, historically both Judaism and Christianity have been brutally destructive in the past, just as Islam is today.
Lets look at Christianity for a moment. One of the reasons that Christianity is not as destructive today as it most certainly has been in the past, is that Christianity has partially secularized, thanks to individuals like Thomas Aquinas, Copernicus and Galileo. Most Christians today are not tied to the fire and brimstone literalism of Biblical text, thus, Christianity today has long past the time of brutally stoning women to death for adultery.
As a side note: There is however, a frightening rise of Christian literalism today, through Biblical literalists, who genuinely believe in Noah's Flood and a Young Earth of just a few thousand years of age. This is a disturbing disconnect from reality.
Another point, is that most countries with large Christian and Jewish populations are not run as theocracies. Thus, there is a separation of church and State.
Thus, there are several reasons why there is so much, violence in the Islamic World today. One reason is that most Islamic countries are run as theocracies, another reason is that, Islam has not gone through the same reforms as Christianity and Judaism, the other major reason is fundamentalism.. Many Muslims are taught to interpret the Koran literally, thus, they are textual literalists.
*** Islamic terrorists have killed many times more innocent citizens in their own Muslim/Arab countries than in all other countries combined. Consider the countless thousands of innocent citizens murdered by Muslim terrorists in Algeria, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Philippines, and Turkey. In Algeria alone, Muslim terrorists slit the throats of 100,000 fellow citizens. Then, the world stood silent as Sudanese Muslims murdered a million of their fellow countrymen. - Frank R. Wallace***
Textual literalism of religious text, is destructive to the human brain. The human brain has evolved to integrate and understand reality, Richard Dawkins made the identification, that children for very good Darwinian reasons, believe almost everything parents and elders tell them. A young child cannot afford to get involved in naturalistic experimentation, to know not to swim in the river, because of the crocodiles. There simply is not enough time to get involved in such experimentation and speculation. Any child who did, would very quickly wind up dead.
Because the young human brain is set up to believe everything its told, it is thus, also set up to be gullible to "viral infection" such as lies and mysticism.
Religion is purely based on faith... Having faith is believing in something without direct evidence.
Richard Dawkins also draws an analogy with computer viruses: One cannot design a computer program such as Microsoft Word, Excel or Acrobat reader; without those programs also being vulnerable to viruses, that essentially say "spread me around" and perhaps "do some malicious damage" also.
That is exactly what religion is, it is a virus of the mind. Such viruses distort the mind with pockets of mysticism. Once the mind is corrupted with such mysticism, it acts as a reality blocker. It blurs an individuals ability to fully grasp reality.
The more "honestly" religious an individual becomes, the more fundamentally literal one's view of that religion becomes... Such distortions of reality, straight jackets individuals into a very narrow scope, worlds-eye view of reality.
When religion is interpreted so literally, it becomes a divisive force against anyone who holds a different World view... It kills tolerance and breeds intolerance.
These views have absolutely nothing to do with hatred of religion. It is rather, an honest identification of certain aspects of religion. If we have to live with religion in this World. Then we need to do it, with the tolerance and understanding, that not everyone thinks as we do.
The fact is that not all Muslims are terrorists, these are the very people who need to stand up and say enough is enough.

It is getting very old. Simple minds who are ignorant of facts. I've noticed several people who post questions and that's all they have to say is spewing hatred. Why do they think that makes them any different than what they're bashing??

I agree.
Now will you tell some of your your muslim brothers to stop posting abusive languages and obscene abuses for Hindus on YA ? By abuse I mean real abuse. Even obscene words in Urdu !!!
I noticed they avoid those words for Christians as they fear backlash. But Hindus being milder ,seem to be fair game, for them .
