Originally the 'coke' part of coke-cola was indeed cocaine. Nowadays however all they need is the caffeine and sugar to get you hooked!!

The only addictive product in Coca-Cola as it currently exists is caffeine...though some people I think might be able to become addicted to sugar. The original formula of Coke, around the turn of the century, contained coca extract, i.e. cocaine...needless to say, that's no longer part of the formula today

I cannot confirm your suspicion, but many years ago I became addicted to Coka Cola, I weaned myself off and now hardly ever drink it. I was up to 6 cans aday - very worrying. I thought they changed the recipe since then??

At one point coke contained cocaine. It was removed in 1906. So I don't think that is your issue. I think you are simply addicted to the sugar. Have some will power and ease yourself off of it. I did it.

Or don't bother. The majority of packaged foods contain the harmful flavor enhancer MSG. It is listed in the ingredients under all kinds of names. MSG is harmful to the nervous system and is included because it is an addictive substance. It keeps people wanting to eat more. Americans eat tons of MSG every day.

Most soft drinks have sugar and caffeine. Cola is the only one I'm addicted to. I've often wondered if it's more addictive than is widely known. I never drink other sugary beverages, but I must have cola.

I try to stay away from cola products, but on holiday recently it was cola or beer. So I had cola it took me three weeks after the holiday to get myself off it. It is not the sugar i was addicted to, it was something else?????

yes it's called caffine.. It used to be a cocaine derivative in the early days but that would probably be too expensive now..

As for your downfall - theres a fine line between addiction and no will power !

Yes. caffeine is the addictive ingredient. It stimulates your heart, your brain, and other systems of your body. You can become SO addicted to it, in fact, that you will have painful headaches in the event the you miss your "dose" of caffeine.......
which.... by the way..... one grain of it will kill you.
