First:
God created humans that worship him (Adam, Eve, their kids, their grand kids, etc.....)
second:
u know that the human is a dumb creature, so after hundreds of years, humans tried to build some statues that they respect & believe that these statues bring them closer to God's passage
Third:
after another hundreds of years, the dumb humans worshiped these statues & forget to worship God, so they don't believe in God anymore
Fourth:
then God sent the prophets to make poeple come back to worship God & don't worship these statues
NOW u know the answer of ur question & u know also how humans r dump becouse they worship things that they made by their own hands (statues)

If there were only one religion and everyone had the same mind, then how would God test the humans HE created?? HE has given everyone a seperate mind so that every individual can think and try to seek the path of God, goodness and light! If some one doesnt do it, then he does not do it on purpose. Its not God's mistake in that !! God has given the non-belivers each and every thing he gave the belivers!! its not that the non belivers have one eye or one ear or no mind!! if someone looses it he must have had an accident!!

Well, maybe because you believe that god created human and others don't. This can be pretty offensive to people who just wants to pray on their own and to believe whatever they want. Life is full of diversity, and you cannot expect every person in a room to believe and pray the same way. You're asking the wrong person; why is he doing that, I have no idea, but then again, I don't believe in the same thing neither.
This is a question pretty much just for people who believe in him. I'm just here to explain the diversity and difference people has on the way they live every day of their life.

Supposedly free will. Of course given the "options" of "believe in gOd and go to heaven" or "don't believe in gOd and burn in HELLFIRE", it's really not much of a choice, is it? So I suppose the answer is that gOd is a mean old bastard.
Actually the answer is that gOd doesn't exist and this question is moot... but then again, for the purposes of this conversation, we're pretending like it DOES exist.

i think bcoz God wants the believers to think. things cannot work this way : u believe in sumthing simply bcoz ur parents believe in that thing.
for example im a muslim not because i was born a muslim. it is bacause i believe that islam is the right one. if i dun believe in that i will change to other religions. so the non believers are the reasons that incite the thinking about wat u believe. if everybody believes in Allah, then there is no other religions then i will not think why i choose islam which will make me blind to see the beauty of my religion and makes me a bad muslim. the same thing apply to the buddhists for example. they believe in their religion becuse they compare buddhism with others and find that buddhism is the right one and the most realistic one.
so having ppl with different opinions or beliefs will make u think.

In any experiment, you have the proof and the control - you set things up to show that the particular thing you're looking for is causing a particular effect. We nonbelievers are the control for the experiment of faith and free will.
