If you an athiest, it is odd to be in a religion site because you have no religion. (Are you try to find the truth about god?)

If you help religious people to believe there is no god, what will you get? Just waste your time.

Great question...I asked a similar one a few days ago.

The Atheists are here to 1) find out what we're discussing
2) butt in and try to convince us that there is no god(s).
3) just be annoying and ignorant, trying to make it seem as though they are so much smarter than believers because they rely on their own understanding(mere humans) rather than admit there is ONE greater than themselves who they cannot wrap their IQ's around.

So atheists, agnostics and anyone who does not believe in the christian construct of god should not have an opinion on religion?

I like the topic on a sociological level. I don't answer the christian only questions because debating little bits of scripture from a book I do not find to be truth does not interest me. However, I will answer questions such as this that is aimed at me or just wants an opinion in general.

It is a bit arrogant don't you think to have the notion in your head that atheists are only here because we secretly are jonesing for a deity in which we do not believe even exists.

I have no beef with what anyone wants to believe. It is neither my intent nor my right to force another to believe as I do. Everyone has free will whether they recognize that or not. You could say the sky is purple with black polka dots and I wouldn't argue with your right to believe it; I just would not believe that myself.

I find it funny that the atheists that post on this board gets asked that question multiple times a day. Would you ask a non-voter why he was hanging out in the Politics & Government category?

No im not trying to find the truth.
I am trying to get some religious people to see the light. After all , i live on this planet also. And seeing as how religion plays way too much part in trying to control peoples lives from the top down through influencing laws etc, I am going to do what i can against it from the ground up. Like jesus :)
I want religeous people to come out of the cave. I have children, and i want a good future for them.

Some interesting answers, so far. Nothing really surprising, or intelligent.

A couple of reasons that a non-religious person would even bother with a religious site is that (1) they are being inspired by God to reach out to others for a hand into the "Light".
(2) They are curious about why religious people are so positive and happy in their lives, while they share misery and hate.
(3) Matthew 7:15
[ A Tree and Its Fruit ] "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.

We still love them and so does Jesus...when they repent, it will be a great celebration!

Luke 15:32
But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' "

Many of us used to think that organized religion, if we didn't subscribe to it, was something we could ignore and go on with our lives. But now we are seeing that religious zealots, guided by their "divinely inspired" scriptures, have become a menace to those of us who want to live peaceful and fulfilling lives. The true believers in all three of the Big Religions cannot be ignored any longer, because they are locked into a nihilistic course to destroy not only each other, but us with them.

I happen to know a lot more about certain religions than some of their followers...so I am qualified to answer certain types of questions. If religious people would quit asking questions of atheists in here, I probably wouldn't be around as much.

Because Athiests have a certain hatred towards God. Even an athiest friend of mine who claims to be accepting mocked up a bible. Drawing naked pictures and changing the words in it, etc. Why this hatred? I don't know. They don't believe in God yet they are so angry towards those who do. If you are so loving and accepting towards people's freedoms why no freedom of religion? Is it because religion steps on your freedom?

In one word I'd have to say, egotism.

Atheist answer religious questions because -oft times- we are able to consider all religions with a detached, academic, objective perspective...something "believers" often lack....

It might be analogous to mental midgets trying to ask an intelligent question....

This is called the Religion and Spirituality section. What are you going to do? You don't have to be religious to be spiritual.

The only thing I can say to you is this. He that cannot reason is a fool. He that will not is a bigot. He that dare not is a slave. Which are you.

No, trying to help you find the truth

We live in a world of credulous gullible people..and while we could safely ignore you in the past, now you have nuclear weapons. In the 21st century, we really need to move beyond these primitive fairy tales.

I generally don't respond to questions that call for christian input only. You can read my questions and answers . I sometimes have to respond to really stupid ones though.
