Fyodor Dostoevsky was the most famuse writter on earth.
Some of you close your mind and your glance as a residu of your former religion and say i don't search. There is not god I'm sure.

My brother in Christ,

The wondrous writings of Dostoevsky played a big part in bringing me to Orthodoxy. I of course did not know this at the time, but looking back I can see how his novels slowly led me to understand what Truth is and how it is found, so that when I was confronted with the Orthodox church, my mind and heart were ripe and ready to submit to the yoke of Christ.

It is not for no reason that Dostoevsky has been called a modern prophet.

I don't know who Fyodor Dostoevskywas is...kinda sounds made up. Are you talking about Orthodox Jews or one of the thousands of Christian denominations? Nonetheless, I can assure you that learning more about a particular brand of religion wouldn't change my views...in the end they still suffer the problems of being man made and lacking evidence of any divine influence.

It has nothing to do with not finding the right church, or the right religion. It simply makes no sense to conclude that a god or at least not a powerful god that cares about us exists at all. And it most certainly doesn't make any sense at all to conclude I need to worship it, or do what it says, until actual evidence of this is given. Which it hasn't

I'm not an atheist, but are implying that because I'm not a member of the Orthodox church, I'm an atheist?

Just a question, since you seem to hold that religion above all others.

What about Catholicism? Protestant? Lutheran? Presbyterian? Or do they not exist/matter? (I realize there are more, but it's late, and I don't feel like typing the huge list of religions)

If you're going to aim a religious question at atheists, at least give them the option of different religions to consider.

I was a practicing Christian for over 30 years. Mostly Baptist, but I did study other religions and the history of religion.

Since God does not exist, it would be pointless to continue investigating religions or searching for a cult that follows rules with which I agreed.

I prefer atheism. Less need to judge others or engage in meaningless rituals.

The fact is that if I was going to be a "Christian," I would be a Mormon.

No, I'm atheist because I used common sense. I don't care if some guy I've never even heard of converted, I just know I never will because I am right and you are WRONG!

I am an atheist because I do not believe in deities, no religious belief system will change my mindset on that.

The only thing I can say to you is this. He that cannot reason is a fool. He that will not is a bigot. He that dare not is a slave. Which are you.
