Do you cover the bird at night. I have a very large flight cage with tiels in it and one keet..if I don't cover it at night they'll get night frights and freak out and start flopping all over the cage screaming. It's quite a racket at 2 am...with 8 birds all at once doing it. I'd try covering it at night if you don't already do so. If you do, just give it time, I'm sure it will grow out of it.
I agree..don't use a nightlight it just messes up thier sleep patterns.

Hi, budgies are not scared of the dark but they cannot see well in the dark. If they get frightened buy a noise they will not be able to see clearly and will crash into things.

A little scared. Mostly they go to sleep, because their eyes are not suited to the dark. They have evolved to be active in the day so when it gets dark their brains sort of shut off. It helps them hide from night predators and conserve energy.

My chum has a fowl who used to snatch on to the properly of the cave and sleep the different way up. He wasn't frightened of the darkish, besides the undeniable fact that. you're able to try protecting all the cage, and leaving a section uncovered very on the point of an evening undemanding, so as that the fowl can see, besides the undeniable fact that it is going to likely be darkish.

It depends on the bird. Mine are and no sound should be made in the night and they have to be covered if not they do not sleep at all.

it's probably just a matter of what they become used to. my parakeets are accustomed to occasional noise (music, conversations, etc.) in the dark, and they're not afraid of it

When we had them they weren't. But if it's a problem, maybe plug in a night light nearby.
