Comment. I used to think those US presidents who consigned thousands of people to die in war and at the same time make out they were pious Christians were hypocrites. But maybe they have just never been taught the difference between right and wrong? Maybe we need some moral philospophy taught in schools.

There are no such things as sins. That's just some stupid crap Christians use to control each other.

Number 2

2006-08-09 02:06:44 · answer #2 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

Going by the christian beliefs of sin the second one would be more sinful, but not a greater sin. The word children implies more then one. Killing 2 times is commiting two sins. Furthermore raping two or more children constitutes 2 or more sins becuase they had sex out of wedlock.

As far as I am concerned being an Occultist I bet when someone yells out the lords name in vain he gets a giggle out of it. I would laugh myself.

The second is a far more atrocious act in my beliefs. Anyone who did such a thing would have upon them invoked a fate so foul it merely starts with death. If I was within the home my faith dictates that I must act in defense of the children and their parents or dishonor my Gods.

Silence

The Bible says that both are sins but the difference is in the intentions. The first person did not intentionally curse--it just slipped out. The second person deliberately committed several different sins. He is obviously committing the greater sins. If you are thinking that #1 is using God's name in vain or blaspheming, it is not. According to Psalm 83:18, God's name is Jehovah.

Actually the only one sinning is number 2, for obvious reasons.
But number 1 isn't. First, "Jesus Christ" isn't the name of the Jewish guy who lived 2000 years ago. Being a jew, his name was Yehoshua in Hebrew, "Yeshua" in Aramaic (slang). And since he was a man, yelling out his name or even a bad translation of his name isn't a sin.

Many pull out the "using His name in vain" card - problem is no one reads the card. Every bible that is in English reads "LORD" and is a translation from the original Hebrew. The actual word written for God's true name that is not to be taken in vain is spelled and pronounced differently. And since its is tradition that about 30 people on the whole planet actually knows the name of God (ref Exo 3:15, in original Hebrew) - there isn't much danger of people using His name in vain.

Good question. By everything I have learned in my life, I of course would say the psycho. Apparently, God doesn't like people using his name in vain either. I have been told a sin is a sin - have a tough time getting my hands around that.

apples and oranges. #1 is one sin, but #2 is many sins.

but I agree that there's no such thing as sin. maybe just moral, ethical, and social responsibility. Who knows. Guess we'll all find out in the end.

The bible says all sins are equal, but the way I think God ment this is we need to repent for all of our sins and accept Jesus as our savior. Of course we as humans would normally see number two as the worst sin, but how God sees it is not for us to judge. They both require forgivness from God.

My husband does the equivalent of #1 every day. Anyone who thinks he is more of a sinner than the other person is a lunatic. What kind of god thinks that disbelief or slander of himself is worse than torture, rape and murder?!

The second is obviously worse to anyone that actually thinks about it....yet, I also don't accept the religious concept of sin.
