SCOTCH EGGS

A very old favorite in the British Isles. In past centuries Scotch Eggs were sometimes called birds' nests. 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce (if desired) 10 to 12 small hard boiled eggs 1 lg. egg, well beaten Fine dry bread crumbs (make your own or use packaged seasoned bread crumbs) 1 tbsp. seasoned flour, (made with 1 tbsp. flour, 1/8 tsp. salt, 1/8 tsp. black pepper, and 1/8 tsp. dried thyme)
Place the sausage meat and Worcestershire sauce in a medium sized mixing bowl. Add the seasoned flour mixture and blend the ingredients together with your hands. Divide the mixture into 10 to 12 equal pieces (to cover the eggs).

Mold each piece of meat around an egg and carefully roll each egg between your hands to shape the sausage meat coating.

Place the beaten egg and bread crumbs in two separate shallow dishes. Dip the eggs first in the beaten egg, and then in the bread crumbs, coating them thoroughly and shaking off any excess crumbs.

Place coated eggs on a cookie sheet and cook in a 350 degree oven approximately 30 to 45 minutes (until the sausage is cooked). Don't let them get too crispy. Remove from cookie sheet and drain on paper towel to drain.

Place the eggs on a warmed serving plate and serve at once (whole or halved) if they are to be eaten hot. They make a very good hot or cold snack.

cooked chicken
bread rolls
snack food chips lollies and things like that
soft drinks
pic-nic types of food are always good as well

Well, I figure you don't want him to eat all junk; peanut butter (with or without jelly) sandwiches are good because of the protein. Trail mix is good because the protein; fresh fruit; chex mix might even work to help with fiber; as far as putting things on ice, you could mix up some chicken or tuna salad and put it in a tupperware then pack the bread separate to make sandwiches when you stop somewhere to get gas (Gosh, that part's really gonna suck for y'all).

But anyways, hope that helps any and have a safe trip!

I have been traveling for just about a year now. like Forest Gump< lol

I have learned quite a bit about taking food with. One of the best things to do, is have a small cooler packed with cold drinks( what ever it is you like) could be soda, juice, lots of water. etc. That really helps with the cost of things.

then I pack some snacks. you will be surprised what tastes great when your really sick of being in the car. You can bring deli things, nice lunch meat. ect. Pack things that you can eat and drive also. such as p.b.j. sandwichs already make.
donuts and coffee
iced tea
hand sanitizer, and plates and napkins
and dont forget to bring good ole boiled eggs(salt too!!)
we also love sardines I know ick...

well, one last thing. bring something to use as a trash bag. It can be a big help.
by the way where are you going??

I just come back from a 15 hour trip. I put pre-made sandwiches and vegetables in a cooler. I also had a snack bag with some fruits and other items that are good for snacking in the car. I didn't put any miracle whip on the sandwiches because they will get soggy. But i did put a squeeze bottle of condiments in the cooler along with some drinks.

Sandwiches or fried chicken
Cookies or cupcakes
Fresh fruit with fruit yogurt for dipping
Carrot and celery sticks with individual ranch dip
Plenty of sodas and water
Do your car a favor and stop half way for 1 hour to cool the engine down and have a picnic

You may want to bake muffins or cookies for the trip. Biscuits, chocolates, chips, sandwiches and some drinks. Pack something that your husband likes.
