What color goes well with Birch Furniture and makes a space seem more spacious.?

I have a small room with popcorn on the ceiling. I was wonder what color i should used to make my room more spacious. I also have birch furniture and want something that will compliment that. I want to paint my entire room even my ceiling, the problem is i have popcorn on my ceiling. Would it look weird if i just painted my walls and left my ceiling white? if so, what other options do i have. Thanks for all ur help. Appreciate any kind of advice

Try bright colors like mustard or sunny yellow on one wall. Keep furniture to minimal and small if you want more space.

I use lighter color for my ceiling to make it looks higher, and the walls are either in a different shade OR complementing color of the ceiling color. Plus I added a large mirror in the living room. All works well for me.
