I've seen a LOT of posts here about the new sanitary belts being popular. I looked into it and spoke to my mother, grandmother, aunts and friends.

Here is what I found:
- Old women (40+) hate them because all they remember were those crappy belts and thick pads of a LONG TIME AGO.
- Young women using Tampons can only talk about how they hate pads...so why listen to them? They use TAMPONs not pads!
- All the other women that sqawk about the belts have NEVER USED THE BELTs!

So after 12 years of using sticky pads, I decided to try them (based on a girlfriend recommending them). Guess what?
- I will never go back to stickies!
- the NEW pads are thin, the NEW belts hold them snuggly in place
- the belts are wide, comfy, lacy and don't roll
- no more pad sticking to myself or bunching up

Much, much, much better.

Any other thoughts?

I use tampons mainly because I don't like the feel of something between my legs all day. If I wanted something there, it would probably be my husband, not some bloody piece of material.
No matter how great they are in comparison, it's still a pad. It's a hygiene thing, too. You still end up with the blood sitting on the outside of your body all day, possibly smelling and getting on you, eeewwww.
Most women have their own personal preferences, and you won't convince them to see your point of view. Adhesive pads, belted pads, tampons, the cup... It all boils down to what a woman likes for herself.
After 12 years of using nothing but pads and hating them, why didn't you ever try tampons? Why should we try belts? There are no answers here. Just use what you like and be d*mned with the rest of the world.

Well, you have enlightened me! I didn't know there were new belts (maybe they haven't hit the stores here yet.) I am one of the 40 + year old women who only used the old belts after my babies were born and I needed those mega pads. I don't like tampons because they don't fit my body right and I still have to use a mini pad to catch what the tampon misses. The pads are a problem when I run because the sweat causes them to become unstuck so maybe these new belts you are talking about would be a good solution. I am going to keep my eye out for them and try it. Thanks!
Oh, someone mentioned the Instead product. I've used it and it does solve some problems like there is no smell and guys don't even know you are on your period when you are having sex. However, it has a stiff plastic ring that hurts me as the cup doesn't fit correctly. If it came in different sizes like a diaphragm, I might like it better. Also, it is very messy when you take it out.

I would never wear pads only the ultra thin and they stay in place without the belts. I use a tampon and ultra thin pad at the same time. No odor no mess no extra waist band. I hated those things back in the day and never would wear them ever, ever. My pads don't bunch up. I cant tell I'm wearing them. I am satisfied in what I'm using. You cant go swimming in them. I remember that back in school when our gym class had to take swimming for gym.

I'd rather have a pad stuck to my panties than a belt that could come unbuckled, break or worse, roll up & pinch my skin. I've seen those new belts. They won't replace the adhesive pads. It's a renewed fad that will fade like it did back in the 80s.

Dear Gawd!

I was forced to wear those for years. That is about the same as a bloody ball and chain. I literally use tampons and long thin pads. I have used the same brand of wonderful product for 20+ years. that's product loyality.

Happy that you found the "right" thing for you. I can't understand the "thong pads"....huh why bother.....

I've never heard of a sanitary belt. Where can I buy one?
However, I take my birth control pills for four cycles in a row without breaks, so I only get 4 periods a year. It's wonderful. Screw the belt ladies, just stop menstruating!
(Any medical proffesional will confirm that it's safe).

I've tried the belts and I hate them. They're horridly uncomfortable. I never had any problems with pads bunching or sticking, etc. I prefer a product called "Instead". It's a vaginal cup. It works better than everything else I have tried (and I've tried things I'm certain you've never heard of).

This is the first I've heard of any so-called "new" sanitary belts. I have no problem with pads or tampons. Personally, I can't wait until menopause and I don't have to deal with it anymore!

I've never tried them, but I've heard horror stories from my mom! I didn't know they reinvented them. Kinda cool. If you like them use 'em. When my mom had to use them, she and her buddies would use tape to stick them to their underwear. If only she copyrighted it! I use pads and tampons. They both have their place... er... pun not intended. I'd tried the belted ones if I saw them for a low price. I know I wouldn't miss having that one hair get stuck ! YEOWCH!!

That's the first praise I have ever heard for the belts. Where can I get one? Do they work good for heavy times? My Mom said she can remember them and said it was a horrible experience. Things change.
