I consider the 9 years of his life in agony and pain as a severe punishment.

Christopher Reeves was a wonderful man, so handsome, kind and strong. His wife was an amazing person too. God needed them both to show the world what strength, loyalty and determination meant. There are TWO PEOPLE who made a difference in this world. What they started will save the lives of many in future. This many not mean much to some, but when your child or a loved one is cured because of research that resulted from what these two accomplished you will bless their name and that of all the other unknowns that have granted you a cure and longer span on this great planet. That too must be God's will, to save people. People always question why does God let bad things happen....why don't you say glory hallelullah when stem cell research and cancer research and scientific research etc. etc. grants someone a longer life to continue to do God's will on this planet.

I don't think God punished Christopher Reeves, he blessed the world with him.

God didn't punish him. God doesn't do that! The things of this world are just that...things of this world. Our natural home is in heaven where there is no pain or sickness. That is why sometimes you will hear Christians say that, "I only live in this world, I am not of it." But God again, showed through Christopher, that good comes out of something bad. Christopher and his wife, before she passed on brought so much to this world to help in spinal cord research and for breast cancer. They left this world with hope! That is a miracle!

Open your heart and realize that God is there through everything (good and bad), you just need to believe and trust in him.
Be Blessed.

Who says God punished him? He chose Christopher Reeve to show the world what courage is all about. Reeve fought his illness and tried his best for the others who were suffering like him. May God rest his soul in peace!!

Well dances with a cloud of weed around you by your screen icon.
What makes you think it was a punishment by God? and not something that Reeves soul decided on having happen to show pole that even with serious accidents or disabilities can still keep their faith in something greater that them selves.

No. God had nothing to do with the paralysis Mr Reeve was struck with. It was a horseback accident, God didnt tip over the horse. He dosent interfere with everyday life

It certainly was unpleasant for Mr. Reeve, but why do you suppose that god had anything to do with it, or that god even exists? It can be shown that belief in these leads to no useful consequences, so to do so is a waste of time and energy.

What an arrogant question! What makes you think you know the mind of God? Who are YOU? SWhat happened to Chris was an accident, and he didn't even once consider it any sort of judgment from God. Chris was a great man because via his tragedy, thousands of people were helped, millions were inspired. How dare you (punch in gut at you, insert grunting sound effect here)!

why does everyone think God always punishes if mr reeves was not a a christian, born again child of God meaning he has accepted Jesus as his savior. then God had nothing to do with it if he was a born again christian then maybe God was teaching him to trust him totally as i know this from personal experience

Where do you get your facts from? Contrary to popular belief God actually had nothing to do with the deal.

As the story goes, the devil sought Chris out and said "The deal is you sign here, here and here and you'll be faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, etc.. etc.." Chris naive and young responded with "Just like Superman?" The devil just chuckled and pulled out his pen.

The rest is history, as well as four of the best DAMNED movies ever made.
