neither of those. You have to have recieved Christ as your saviour to get to heaven.. The other are afterwards when you obey the Lord in baptism and he baptises you in the Holy Spirit.. There are lots of other experiences that Christians have besides those that are not to save you...Salvation is a gift of God that you recieve.

When Jesus spoke about being born again, once of the water and then of the holy spirit he was referring to your fleshly birth and then of your "new birth" of the holy spirit.

All of us have the first birth via our mothers wombs (born of water). We all choose if we are to be born again of the holy spirit.

This is not obtained through the actual act of getting baptized. You can go into the water a sinner and come out a wet sinner. You must accept Jesus Christ as the payment for your sins and ask him to forgive you and to come reside in your heart ( this is the being born again of the spirit part).

Once you do this, in many cultures you may feel a need to publically show what you have inwardly done, and this is done by the water baptism that you read about and if you go to church, you see done. It is a very exilerating and awesome feeling to do this in the sight of God and your fellow believers and I still remember the feeling to this day.

Tongues is a minor gift according to scripture and has nothing at all to do with salvation or baptism.

No....You must ask Jesus into your heart. Many people follow through with a water baptism because it is symbolic of that rebirth. You need to have the Holy Spirit in you too because that is what directs you in your life each day. But some have the gift of tongues and some do not. I do not. (that I know of.)

Speaking in tongues was a gift that died with the last of the apostles. Baptism is necessary in order to survive Armegeddon but it will not get you into heaven either. You must be chosen by God and bought from among mankind to go to heaven as these will be co-rulers with Jesus Christ. Do not fret, however, there will be millions who will survive Armegeddon and many more who will join them during the second resurrection. Read your Bible carefully and find the true religion, dedicate your life to God and be baptized. You will never be happier.

How about asking a pastor? First of all you need to confess Jesus is Lord and accept Him into your life. Baptism in water is a public step to take after accepting the Lord into your life.

Speaking in tongues, I understand, is a gift given by GOD not necessarily to all believers.

Do you know about the man beside Jesus (when He was on the cross)? He accepted Jesus as Lord and the Lord told him that he would be in paradise.
He didn't require baptism.

Loaded question. 1 Pet. 3:21 states "Baptism...now saves you,not as a removal of dirt from the body, but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ..." With an adult, conversion is NESSESSARY (belief in Jesus as Lord and Savior, knowledge and repentence of sinfulness). That's the first step. Baptism is a "channel through which the grace of God, flowing from the cross of Jesus, comes to us" (Catholic and Christian-Dr. Alan Shreck) I dont think there's any historical evidence before the pentacostal movement of the early 1900's that any group of christians bellieved speaking in tounges was essential to salvation

There is nothing anyone on this planet can do to save his/her soul. I can dip you in water till the birds fly home and it would make not one bit of difference.

I could squeeze parts of your body and have you squeal to high heaven and it would not amount to anything.

Heaven is not a place that you can see or touch. Its where God is.

Only Jesus Christ can save your soul through accepting Him and repenting of your sins. His Blood covers all your sins the moment you tell Him you are sorry.

Water Baptism is the water birth we all go through.

Baptism of the Spirit is the knowledge you receive when through Faith through the Word of God you earn by.

Don't believe anyone until you check it out for yourself in the Word of God. King James Version 1611 and a Strong's Concordance. You're going to love it.><>

The only thing you HAVE TO HAVE (not yelling but for emphasis) to get to heaven is faith in Jesus Christ as the only begotten son of God and that he gave his life as the penalty for the wages of sin, which is eternal separation from God through death in an eternity in hell. Baptism is to align yourself with a local fellowship of believers and represents the death, burial and resurection of Christ and has no other significance and speaking tongues, merely means that if in a given situation you are given the gift to speak a lanaguage you do not know or you are able to understand a language you do not know that glorifies God or aides in helping or serving someone.

You just have to believe that Jesus Christ is God and that He died for your sins and live by faith. Baptism is just a symbolic act! And you do not have to speak in tongues to get to heaven Jesus can understand all languages!
