Today has not been good. My boyfriend got a puppy a couple months ago. Levi. He fell in love with him and they were inseperable.(The puppy even would jump in the shower when he would be in there.) Today was my boyfriends 23rd birthday. I sent him some flowers,when he opened the door for the UPS guy Levi ran out and was hit by a car and died immediently. He had to see the body and everything. He then carried it and buried him in the sideyard. He called me crying his eyes out. He kept saying " I miss him, I want him back." I live a few hours away from him and cant see him until this weekend. I feel so bad, the card I sent with the flowers said --- Love me and Levi.--- .He even went out last night to petsmart with Levi and bought him some new toys and everything.What can i do? Anything? My heart is breaking for him and Levi. He sounds horrible on the phone.
Man, why do things like this have to happen!!

I heard a story once that might help.
This veterinarian was on his way home, and he had to stop at a client's house to put their old dog to sleep. He wasn't looking forward to it, because the family had a 6 year old boy. When he got to the house, he knocked on the door and the little boy answered. The vet noticed the little boy seemed cheerful, so he was worried the parents hadn't told the boy what was going to happen. He asked the boy "do you know why I'm here?" The little boy said yes. He then asked "so you know Goldie will go to sleep tonight and not wake up?" The little boy said yes. So the vet asked if he was upset about that. The little boy said no.
Then the little boy said, "My grandma told me that we are all here to become the best we can possibly be, and it just doesn't take dogs as long."
Maybe Levi was too perfect to stay.

Different people need different things. I myself would want to be alone, and would also want another dog to help comfort me. Do not get your bf another dog though. He should pick out his next one without having him/her pressed on him. I think the best thing that you can do for him is listen to him and let him know you are there to help if there's anything he needs.

Send some more flowers and a card with the poem Rainbow Bridge. It's about the loss of a pet. And maybe when he feels up to it you both can go pick out another puppy.

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

Sometimes life just sucks! What an awful tragedy. It's important for people who have lost pets to know that there are others in the world who know it's not "just a dog". That we cherish our pets, try our best to protect them and treat them right and that their loss is like losing a beloved friend or family member.
I know your friend will be comforted by your compassion and distress at his puppy's death.

8 years in the past my 18 year old cat died. under a year in the past a 2d cat, on the age of 18, additionally died. the two have been very ill and that i chosen to assist them relax. I pass over the two one in all them. whilst i think of in regards to the final one, I cry a sprint. I even have 2 greater pets, top now. they're the "replace kitties." i'm a Catholic, besides. I see my animals as my kin. i be conscious of i like them and that they have got attachment to me. I even have seen human beings carry their pets to church for a particular blessing. In farm communities, clergymen circulate out to bless the animals. no count number in case you do or have not got faith that animals have a similar sort of spirit that human beings do, there's a life rigidity which you will discover. Our pets are thrilled to work out us, follow us and convenience us. i think of they return love, are altruistic and unselfish. As element of our kin they might desire to a technique or the different have an eternal life with us, even no count number if that's in memory. yet, you be conscious of, my concept of heaven could be to work out them returned. and because God loves me, this is a possibility. it gets less complicated to undergo. dont know what to say. i just lost my little fuzzy (he was a parakeet.) and i also lost a malamute a few years back. death sux.
