I didnt have a problem with the immigration issue until I experienced some of its affects. My friend couldnt get disability cause illegals were working w/ her and her 6 yr old son's SSN! When she went to the SSN office they said she couldnt do anything about it till they did something illegal with her info! The PD here dropped the case stating there were too many fraud cases in AZ and hers was less important! my kid's Early Head Start grad. was TOTTALY in spanish--mind you HS is a federally funded program that I pay for but I couldnt even get an english sentence at a function. The bilingual school system is biased and in my opinion taught incorrectly. Is it really teaching english students or aiding hispanic ones? Cause if its aiding why isnt it also helping the large Sudanese population that lives here? I went to a fastfood drive thru where the guy didnt speak english & we had to point @ the menu! people are entitled to their rights but this is gettin a lil crazy.. do u agree?

lol @ joeandhisguitar... the gentleman wasnt getting what we were saying at the board and told us he didnt speak english (i know a little spanish) so we went to the window where he handed us a copy of the menu. we were like "tres y ocho. dos Sprite grande" and he got it (we were nice about it and he laughed and apologized for the miscommunication). Its a well known mexican fastfood place and so i dunno, maybe they were trying to keep up their authenticity or something.

I live in South Louisiana -saying that I want to say this- for generation our grandparents and our great-grandparents spoke French- some of them only spoke French -- My grandmother told me when she was a child and attend school you were not allowed to speak French and if you got caught speaking French with you friends or even over heard speaking French in town - You better believe that you were in for big trouble when you got home-- My grandmother taught her parents to speak English --at that time you were looked down upon if you spoke only French -- and consider de sapporo's (unlearned) and it was shameful to the family-- South Louisiana is full of strong heritage and family values and yes you can still find a few old timers at a country store and for me I would feel as if I were being disrespectful upon leaving if I didn't make a point to say "Ayez un bon jour monsieur" (have a good day gentleman) times have changed alot since my grandparents and great grandparents have passed away --- BUT ONE THING WILL ALWAYS REMAIN THE SAME FOR ME AND MY FAMILY -- the words of my Great Grandfather --English will be spoken at all times -- and you will bring no shame upon your family or your country-- I wonder what my Grandfather would say about whats going on today......

Can I just say I am glad I don't live in AZ...that being said I sympathize with you...especially when the authorities tell you that your case isn't that important !! That is some BS....if I were you I would be calling some papers or email your story to some news networks. It is getting out of hand and AZ is really starting to go down the drain....as for the school I would be raising all kinds of holy heck !! American citizens should not have to put up with this type of crap !!!
~add on~ as for the restaurant I would call the head office and tell them that you won't be doing business with them anymore if they don't get someone in there that can speak English.

Hey good post. Zonie here. I put my child into a private school. She is learning Spanish because she WANTS TOO and not because most Phoenix Schools are forcing bilingual BS down my child's throat. Diversity is cool. My kids friend is from Korea and speaks ENGLISH here and Korean with his parents.. Now, if we need to go Bi lingual I say we go and assimilate to every language from every legal immigrants home country.. My friends kids go to a school near Camelback Rd and they are PO'd about the bilingual issue. They pay taxes and paying sales tax on soda pop does not cut it.. I need to stop, I think I will have a rant embolism soon.. Great Question.

Native Zonie here...lol...but...yeah...arizona has always had a higher than the average of mexicans, but...when it starts to affect the education of students come on...and that S.S.N thing would have sent me reeling.....I am not trying to nit pick but...how could you have pointed to the menu and had the person know what you were pointing at if you were in your car in the drive thru?...Anyway...I went to the largest high school in AZ (at the time) and i don't remember the latino students being so anti American/ pro-mexican when i was there...Of course..that was 22 years ago...

It is getting crazy!

I agree, they should NOT teach bilingual education.....It doesn't help these kids assimilate and keeps them from truly learning English....

As far as the schools, they are OUT of control....Here in my border town, our property taxes keep going up and up....Why? because the damn public schools keep encouraging illegals to come to there schools, why you ask? Because the more students they get, legal or illegal, the more funds they get from the federal govt!

So our govt is the guilty one, and have the power to stop it....But they don't because that means more funds for their school districts and more funds means, bigger schools, more computers, etc.etc.etc.!

Something must be done to bring some control to this govt. who is spending our tax dollars, like a spoiled kid in a candy store!

Last time I checked this was America. No offense people but if some one is going to live here they needs to speak some damn English when they get here. I live in Cali and am sick of going to fast food drive-through with some girl who can barely speak English.

I would be complaining to the high courts on this one. This is totally uncalled for. There should be a law where ALL immigrants have to learn and speak English before they are allowed to work in America.

Sounds like someone is finally waking up. It is fine when one group get privileges. But when they are ignored by the people buying their vote with services and cash. Then things get crazy, sorry it has been crazy for 200 plus years.
