Like, it states they should cover their head; so why don't they do it?
It says: 'every woman who prays or prophesises with her head uncovered dishonours her head'? Do women just read the bits that say men must submit?

Lol, Gracefully; yea, I wondered when someone would bring that up. Well, if you are right and it did mean 'hair as a covering' then how could it say 'If a woman does not cover her head: she should have her hair cut off'? 1st Corr; 11.6. Anyway, the two words are different in ancient Greek.

I hate it when women at as though this verse does not exist. Also other versus. If you believe in the Bible OBEY IT!
1Ti 2:11 Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness.
1Ti 2:12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.

The bible commands that women cover their head because because it would be like she would have a bald head in the church and back in those times woman could not speak in the church. The man was the head of the household. Not to say that things are different now, but the women than had to be submissive to their husbands and they had to obey them. The reason why the woman wears head coverings on her head is because in those days if the woman did not wear a head covering her head was shaved. Those that thought that this was not okay wore head coverings.
Women don't do alot of things that they should do, mainly because the church has become more liberal. Women are liberal now. They don't believe that the man is the head of the household anymore, probably because there are not to many out there being fathers. But the bible says that woman must be quiet in the church and that they must submit themselves and honor their husbands. Women have become preachers, evangelist, they have taken on the man's role, which they say nothing is wrong with that but the bible clearly had only men disciples and mostly all the old saints of the bible were men, so where do women fit in? I think that women being the head of their church and being rudely and unsubmissive is basically the fall of the church and everyone that is under them will fall. That is my opinion.

Some Catholic old ladies still wear a veil in Mass. Other than that, I've only heard of one other case where a Christian lady covered her head. My friend was a Christian, and his mother always covered her head in church. They were Protestant, which made it even more of a rarity. She did the right thing, it's written there in black and white that a man is shamed for covering his head, and a woman is shamed for uncovering it.
Maybe this is why many women nowadays wear hats in church? You know those hats, the silly big ones with flowers, lol. Sometimes women wear a small hat with a small veil.
To answer your question, yes, the Bible gives instructions to women to cover while praying.

In the Christian Bible New testament the answer is no.
in the old testament from which you quoited yes . It is part if the patriarchal Jewish faith. Even men need to put a head covering on in the synagogue.
In the Muslim and Islamic faiths it is required also to an even greater degree indoors and outdoors. Only family can see their faces inthier own homes.

Yes a woman's head is to be covered. Read on ...........Same Chapter Different Verse .. it is explained what the woman's covering is to be.
1 Cor 11:14. Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
15. But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for HER HAIR IS GIVEN TO HER FOR A COVERING.
and a man is not have long hair??????????? I know Jesus is pictured with long hair but do we really know? I don't mean to start anything.............

Not at all. What the Word of God says is, that a woman shall have the veil of Christ over her head to protect herself from the angels. Satan's
When the Word speaks of the women here it isn't speaking of gender specific. It means that the Bride of Christ needs to have the protection of the Bridegroom, Jesus Christ over their heads when Satan and his angels are cast out to the Earth. A word to the wise is sufficient.><>

Because this was a letter written to the church in Corinth and many of the women there had shaved heads. It was part of the pagan religion.
