No, a good guard dog doesn't need to bite... I used to have a Doberman that scared the pants off people...She would run the length of the front yard, acting as if she would eat intruders alive...It was all an act...She just loved acting like a vicious dog, bared teeth, snarl..looked like the devil......Never would bite anyone..Kindest, sweetest, most obedient dog in the world..
My gate had a sign that read" Do Not Enter--Ring the Bell". No one entered without ringing the bell..

No. Think about alkl the possible bad things could happen to you and your dog if it hurt someone. The dog will get kill and you will get sue.... Unless the dog bite is for protection....

Actually, it is best for the animal to go for the arms, that is usually where any weapons might be. But if the person is running away, all parts of the body are equally at risk.
