My laptop runs windows xp and media player has been working fine up to now. Got home from work and QuickTime was my new default media player and I don't know why or how it happened. It would be nice to have windows media player back as it has more options and is easier to use. Thanks for any help you can give me.

When you installed Quick Time, it changed File Extensions. So media player is not firing up.

To revert the file associations, open media player. Select Tools -> Options. Click on File Types Tab. Click on Select All button.
