I didn't know how bad it was until I saw the show on Fresh Prince and how Will reacted to the way his father left him. If it is this bad I should appreciate my dad more.

It makes me wonder why he don't want me in his life. i say i have two moms, my mother and my grandma, which i am thankful for. My Grandma stepped in and took the 'Father Role' in my life. She raised me along with my mother. he doesn't deserve me if he don't want me in his life.

My father was a criminal who hurt many people, including his kids. I haven't seen him in 15 years, and even that is too recent for me. So whenever I hear someone express pain over not having their father around, I think that they don't realize how lucky they are.

Of course, it's probably best to have a good father around, but having no father can't be that bad, as long as you are provided for economically. And once you become an adult, you don't really need one anyway. If you do have a good or even decent father, you should probably be thankful, though, especially when you're still a kid.

I never knew a father. Our father passed away when we were very young and mother never married again. I never knew how it felt to have a male around our home. But anyway, mother did a pretty good job of raising us alone.
You are lucky. And yes, you should appreciate him.

I grew up with no father or step father. Most kids nowadays should appreciate there parents more, but I don't see it happening.

from experience it sucks.nothing is good about it.what makes everything worse is to know that he doesn't think you are his, even after taking a dna test.for children it can be the worse thing in the world.boy or girl it hurts the same.
