Gee whiz a kid asking about something but Dylan and Cole. That give me hope. At her age it is probably nothing serious but she should tell her mom and go to the doctor. I am a medical transcriptionist and she needs to know that she does not need to be embarrassed and she doesn't need to worry in silence, just go ck it out and get on with her young wonderful life. Doctors are there to help, and to them, this problem is no different than a sprained ankle, they are professionals, there to heal. You are a very good friend. Maybe she'd like you to go with her....

God Bless.

Colon cancer is extremely rare in that age group!

If you have bleeding in your upper GI tract, it will look green because the blood gets digested. Any actual red color would be from bleeding in the colon. But such bleeding is pretty common from hard stools, etc. It will appear as distinct clots of blood, rather than coloring the entire mass.

She should just discuss this with her doctor or a nurse. Many health plans have a "Nurse Hot-line" that screens patients. They can answer questions and make a referral to the right doctor, if necessary.

It could be several things. Her diet may be causing her colon to bleed, she may have hemorrhoids, her stools may be too hard, it may even be something she eats that is causing the color to look like possible blood in her stool. If she is having any pain at all, she needs to talk to her doctor as soon as she can. The only way anything could be determined would be to discuss it with her doctor and she may have to do a stool sample test. If she's nervous about doing that, tell her its done at home and the sample are returned to her doctor or to a lab for testing. It may not be anything to worry about but if she is concerned, she needs to check it out. She does have the option to discuss it with her doctor in private without a parent if she wants also, even though they will probably have to take her, she can request it. Remember that she is probably already scared about the color or she wouldnt have mentioned it, so just help her understand she needs to be checked.

I doubt that she has cancer. She probably has a small internal hemorrhoid which bleeds as she defecates. Many women develop hemorrhoids during or after pregnancy. A hemorrhoid is a very shallow blood vessel that is torn as the stool moves past, and is sometimes painful but external hemorrhoids are more uncomfortable and itchy. Certainly a visit to her own doctor is best, but there are some creams and even vitamins that help....(one called Rutin...marketed in Europe as Varemoid) may work.

Here is a poem I made up for her to cheer her up:

I Love pillows and Australian mangoes
No way maybe later Jose
Love is the sound of a soap company Dove
A sapling to a tree
An ankle to a knee
Leftover sweet and sour pork
A special edition champaigne cork
Hope this cheered you up
I will give you a German Shepard Pup

At that age it is more than likely not color cancer.
I would be more worried about black tarry stools than a "slightly reddish" color BM.
Anyway... tell her to stop sticking things up "there" and go see a doctor.

this may happen. nothing is related to colon cancer..
clear it to her...
the feaces would be black if she is emitting blood from her rectum or intestine....
slight reddish colour is nothing to consider. it depends on the food she eats..........
do not worry..
such things would not occr at this young age.........
just ask her to avoid hard food like meat
