It depends on what you like. If you like somewhat girly period stuff, you can't beat anything by Jane Austen. If you like sci-fi, the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan is good (the earlier books in the series are better than the later stuff). If you enjoy general classics, Charles Dickens is great. If you are looking for something spiritual, I suggest My Land, My People by His Holiness, the Dalai Lama. I'm currently reading Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier and enjoying it quiet a lot. If you want a really good laugh, try The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Presents America the Book: A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inactionby John Stewart. Another good one for a laugh is The Five Minute Iliad Other Instant Classics: Great Books for the Short Attention Span by Greg Nagan. I hope something in this list peaks your interest.

"Domain" by Steve Alten - You can get a great description of it at www.stevealten.com.
Also try "Timeline" by Michael Crichton...the book is much better than that crappy movie they made a couple of years ago.
And one more good one would be "John Adams" by David McCullough...it's the best biography I've ever read.
