I'm a little underweight but some people say i'm okay, i weigh 99 pounds, and did go down to 93 and i decided i should go back up. Why is my period still not arriving when i'm not even that underweight?!!??!?! Would gaining a little pounds help? i mean like i just need to gain about 5 pounds to be at a healthy weight would it make that much difference?

Hmmm... possibly.
But when my period began at 12, it was always irregular. Sometimes it skipped a month or two, or was very short and light or almost two weeks-- but I wasnt unerweight in fact I was overweight.
Perhaps that's just how periods begin for some girls at first, and your body needs time to develop it's rythm.

It stayed irregular thereafter, pretty much. Once I started to diet, though, I lost it completely for 7 years. So maybe for girls who already have difficulty/irregularity dieting is not a good idea!
I am on homrone therapy now to bring my period back. My doctor gives me progesterone which I take for 5 days, once a month and when I stop taking it, it causes me to have the most 'perfect' cycles I've EVER had.
So dont worry- even if you cant 'bring it back; with weight, there's always a solution from your doctor.
And dont think it;s all your fault either-- I have gained all of my normal healthy weight back (BMI ~22) and that didnt bring it back. So it had nothing to do with my eating, and everything to do with my already low and irregular homone levels.

My best to you sister!!

The weight might have something to do with it, but so might the fact that your weight is fluctuating at all -- any stress on your body can cause irregular periods. If you're sick, exercising more, or just going through a rough time, that can cause you to be late (I know of several women who have had late periods because they were worried about being pregnant -- that stress can cause the period to be even later, and make the fear even worse!).

Also, it's not incommon for girls to be irregular for the first months or years. As you grow older, you should settle into a cycle --- and you still might not, to be honest.

If you're really worried, see a doctor, but I doubt this is a cause for concern.

it's perfectly normal for your mentrual cycles to go haywire when you're undergoing a lot of stresses and when you're losing weight like that. somehow the body does its own compensatory mechanism. once you put on a little more weight and watch your nutrition as well as control your stress and worries, it'd should go back to normal.

at that young age it's not uncommon to have irregularities in your oscillation periods or menstrual cycles and the menstrual flow due to hormonal changes and the fact that you are still growing, to be a young lady. so be patient and don't worry too much and eat better so you'll put on that extra pounds to look healthy.

your weight should depend on your height 99-105 sounds about right. birth conrol pills do help to make it regular but beware of the side effects.
they won't help if your weight keeps fluctuating
due to poor eating habits.

There is no real "normal" pattern for a period. If it is your diet, it's not your weight. It's the amount of each food group you're getting or not getting... BTW healthy weight for someone your age at least the height of 4 foot 6 inches should be around 115 pounds. But that doesn't effect your menstruation.

Yes,while some people get their periods regularly , just like clockwork, some never are really regular. I never had my period every month all my life. sometimes it would be 30 days and sometimes 60 days before I got it again. Some months there would be heavy cramping and some months very little. It became regular when I went on birth control pills but after I had my kids it was irregular again.
If you are really athletic(which I never was) sometimes you don't get it at all. Anyway if you are worried about it talk to your Mom or your doctor.

Its quite normal for a 12 year old one to skip, have you been regular and for how long. If you're really worried about it, talk to your mom, I assume you didn't have unprotected sex/
My daughter once skipped 9 months, and I remember I did skip
a couple of months ever so often when I was 12. But as I said before if it really bothers you, talk to someone, its not good worrying about it, nerves can influence your whole body.
Good Luck
