California REDEMPTION VALUE...the amount you get paid if you redeem the item at your local recycling center (turn it in yourself).

~CRV stands for California Redemption Value.
~As part of the California Recycling Program a CRV is charged when you purchase a product which is sold in a recyclable container.
~It is a method used to incourage people to recycle. When you return the empty recyclable containers to a Recycling Center you will get your money back.
~(Somewhat, it usually never adds up to the original amount of CRV charged!)
~Oh well, but what the heck, you're helping save the Earth!

CRV = California Refund Value (sounds kind of faggotty to me...everywhere else this is called a 'deposit')

It is the nickel (or in California .04 or .08 depending on the size of the bottle) you pay when buying a can/bottle of soda or beer.

In Michigan it is .10 a can/bottle (Remember that Seinfeld episode with Newman and Kramer driving the mail truck from NYC to Saginaw on Mother's Day?)

In Canada, you get a cash refund ($1) per can/bottle. Not too many litterbugs up North now, are there?

In Minnesota it is the certificate of real estate value. Not sure if California is the same but I would guess so.
