Writing a story in which a character suffers from a blow to the head. She feels fine, but passes out an hour or so later. Could someone w/ medical expertise please tell me if that seems reasonable/reaslistic? If someone does pass out from a blow (presumably a severe concussion), how long might she remain unconscious? A few hours? A day? A couple of days? Also, what would the person's state usually be like upon awaking?

Thanks. I am working on a fictional short story, so of course it is not factual. I do want it to be believable and, in this case, medically accurate. I find it distracting when I am reading a piece of realistic fiction that contains gross errors.

I had a concussion when i fell and hit my head on the concrete...it hurt so bad (brain swelling) When i went to the doctor she said if i fell asleep for more than an hour i could have ended up going into a comma. Just like any other comma (unconscious) there is never a set time you are out. It could be weeks or you could die from it. BTW when you hit your head and get a concussion from it, it takes about 30 minutes and your head hurts so damn bad you think your gonna die. I also experience extreme nausea too. I know I'm not a doctor, but I've been through this. I see no one has answered you question, so i thought i would throw in my advice.
