Freedom of speech does not apply in here. As the owner, Yahoo can set rules of conduct.

If you are in a public forum, particularly anonymous one, you can expect the whole range of human emotions and communication to be exhibited.

If someone is directly insulting you, then you may want to report them, but I would suggest that you don't do this unless it is very clearly nothing but insults.

It is important to be able to look at the answers that people have given in the past. That means next time they complain about their treatment, you just cut and paste their old answer and tell them how ridiculous they are being!!!

Many people use rude language. Some words on here are edited out like **** and ****.

Overall, you should expect some negative, stupid, or racist comments because there are many negative, stupid, and/or racist people.

Good luck, and I hope that you continue on here. Try not to get too personally offended. Why should you be upset by a gutless anonynous answerer who lives across the world and could be a 10 year old playing games?

I wish you well. Cheer up, and don't dwell on this further, your first question was good, get back to asking the good and positive ones!!!

Unfortunately some people have a limited vocabulary, others are simply "plugged up". The plugged up ones can find relief with Ex-Lax. Being plugged up affects their ability to think and reason clearly. Ex Lax takes care of the problem. Limited vocabulary requires a return to the class room but they may also have a limited ability to focus and learn. For those cases when I was in school the teacher would wash out the mouth with soap. The lesson would then be learned and the (mis)behavior not repeated.

Freedom of speech doesn't protect inflammatory words, just as it doesn't protect slander and libel. Using the excuse of the first amendment doesn't give anyone the right to use words that are inflammatory and unseen; it shouldn't be ignored because someone has taken the a vow of the first amendment as justification of their actions.

I hold great value on freedom of speech.. I still believe tv profanity, violence, and nudity should be unedited as it is human nature.. violence, profanity and nudity do occur.. It's almost i wonder what ever happened to the vchip.. why not unedit tv, and leave the choice in the parents hands with the parental controls.. but wait, that means parents can't blame tv anymore... nevermind. haha

What can you ever do with people who are incredibly rude and offensive? Not to mention the fact that they apparently possess sub-standard vocabularies and feel the need to emphasize what they say with obscenities, as well as being inarticulate and possibly unimaginative. Unfortunately, you either have to ignore them, report them, or stop asking questions.

Does the freedom of expression give you the right to avoid spell check?

Is it really that big of a deal? Just ignore the ignorant answers and give props to the good ones.

Yes, I ignore it in the same way I ignore people who use stupid abbreviations instead of good grammar.

Good one, Wendy C!
