Dear Cisco,
Did you ever see the movie called 'The Time Machine ' ?
The movie was based on the book by H.G.Wells.
In the book the hero (who lives in about 1899) builds himself a time machine and travels far into the future.
When he gets to the future it is almost as if he has traveled to another planet things have changed so much on earth -
There are beautiful beings called the Ehli who live on the surface of planet earth in the future
and these HORRIBLE creatures called the Morlachs - who live underground;
The movie is the story of what happens to the hero in that future time.
In that future terrible things happen
and to save the innocent from awful deaths by the Morlach
(The Elhi get eaten alive underground by the Morlachs)
the hero goes back to his own time (1899)
to get things to help with in the future.

and he takes a dictionary; a bible and himself as the third thing -
he gets back into the time macine and goe forward again into the future to save the Ehli from the Morlach.
In H.G. Well's book ,the future is as different as another planet.
So - if I were to go to another planet I would take a dictionary and a bible too and someone I loved (If they wanted to come along).
By the way, im 'The Time Machine' movie the hero had fallen in love with a beautiful Ehli girl. -
SO - - - one could say the hero had a VERY strong motivation to return into the future
And that's where the movie/book ends - you never find out what happens to him in the future -
But I am an idealist - some how I think it turned out allright.
