The cord is done either right before the rings or right after. Also a similar blessing is done with coins. Some even have breaking of bread. These are all blessings, and symbolize the union and good fortune for the new couple. They are traditional blessings done by Spaniards, Cubans, Filipinos, etc. Basically any country who has had ties with Spain.

I am a Catholic and I have never heard (or seen) the rosary being put over anyone at a wedding. I have been to a lot of weddings in my life. It may be something that is done in certain cultures or a tradition of some countries. Let us know if you find out

I'm Catholic and my husband and I had a traditional Filipino/Spanish wedding. We didn't have a rosary put over us, but we had a cord put over us after the rings. But I've seen the cord placed before and after the rings. It's really a matter of choice.

I've been Catholic for 53 years and never heard about the rosary being involved in the wedding ceremony. This must be an ethnic thing that could involve that area or that city.

The rosary is a prayer for an individual to do for a specific purppose I really dont believe it would be used in a wedding.

It may be done before the wedding begins maby led by someone of your choice.

i think what you are talking about is the cord, not the rosary...i think it's after the rings.
