Excellent question!

My ex b/f was divorced with 3 kids. His ex wife filed a no-fault divorce based upon irreconcilable differences. My ex didn't want a divorce, he was very happily married and loved being a husband and father. Alas, he had no choice, for the divorce laws in California are totally pro-woman, and it's so not fair to men. Anyway, after a horrible divorce and having to pay $943 in child support every month (talk about a nice chunk of change!), he rejected God and said that there is no God, for He would never allow this to happen. Sad, but true.

I think of it like this... when we're little and things go wrong, we sometimes lash out in anger, even at adults for trying to calm us down. It's a childish thing, really, to reject God when things go sour. People have free choice, God lets them f*ck up, He lets us fall on the a.r.s.e. It's not Him, it's us. We screw up, God never does. And he's always close to us, closer than even our jugular. We can rely upon Him for guidance and strength, if we'll just listen to his whispers.

To me, your question raises more questions...

Why doesn't a "Christian" God accept more then one religion, when each religion for the most part accepts the other?

Why is "His" book written by men, only to be corrupted and washed down by translation and political motive? I say potato(long "a"), you say potato...

If "His" plan is "supernatural" in nature, why I should blindly believe, while He does not answer the calls or warn of eminent doom? Today is no different then 1000 years ago... Christianity is relatively the youngest religion, yet is the most devoted blindly to "His word" then all. Most political antagonists in history had the same ideal and quote "His" ideals for propaganda...

From a non-religious man, He has alot of explaining to do...I should be struck by lightning when I type this! But no....

The search for inner peace continues...I am left to find it myself, as my ancestors before propaganda had a chance to set in.

Please don't bash too hard!:)

I reject the notion of God for exactly that reason. If there was a God, wouldn't he interfere with all the hatred in the world today instead of letting us self-destruct?

man rejects god because they are in doubt. there is no straightforward evidence of his exsistence (ok, there is the bible, but as for them receiving daily miracles in their lives or winning the lottery, etc.), and faith is very hard for people to have. ( i know, i struggle too.) it was hard for me to comprehend too why a god would let his people wallow away in all the bad times, let alone let the bad times happen.

but its because he loves us, and he loves us so much that he gave us the freedom of choice to wither love him back or not. face it, you wouldn't want to be in a relationship where you loved someone but they didn't return the feelings to you. so with that being the case, he let us go our ways, but he's always there for us to turn too. i heard this quote "we're always strongest on our knees" (referring to the action of us in prayer) so if people could develop their faith and turn to him, then they wouldn't be rejecting god so.

but that's what makes a relationship stronger, all the challenges, don't you think?

Man rejects god because god hasn't done anything for anyone, ever.

Alot of people are happy with God only during the good times in their life. And as soon as something bad happens, they turn their back on him, as if He did it to them. What if God turned our backs on us every time we sinned? We'd never have a relationship with him!
