I have found that using the brand Authority Hairball Control from PetsMart works well Im not sure if you have one where you live but it works wonders compared to some of the others I bought and tried. I also heard that changing there diet to often can cause them to have an upset stomach. So now my cats only eat one kind of dry cat food and Ive noticed a difference.

I fed my 20 yr old Purina One for Seniors Hairball Control dry food. However, since he died & I have a new kitten I've been diong a lot of research on dry food & all the research says none of the 1st five ingredients should be grains, but should be proteins. I've heard that these are high quality, excellent foods: Nutro, Life's Abundance, Royal Canin, Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul, & Innova. If you do a google search there are a lot of articles on cat food.

Why Science Diet of course,...
I've tried other commercial brands, and the few long haired cats I had didn't do too well, eventually I settled with science diet, because every cat is different and sometimes a cheaper food is alright for them.
But not always so. They don't shed as much and there are additatives that help them "pass" thier furry fuzzies more easily.
I've stopped trying different foods when ever I get a new cat. Science works best, I guess thats why they don't advertise.

I have a long haired cat, and I use Neutro, plus a hair ball medication that she just licks off my finger. We also have a dog. They both get Neutro. We get it at pet smart. When our dog was in puppy pre school the trainer recommended that brand.

science diet is actually one of the best ones out there...my sister uses it for her cat (sensitive stomach formula) and it works really well. anything else i would say iams, or purina one hairball control. if you're still seeing a problem with the hairballs you can check with your vet to see if there are any better ones that you can buy directly from them.

I thought my cat had the longest hair in history. I buy the Purina in the green bag. It has hairball medicine in it. I wished I had used it with my other cat. Now my cat has very few hairballs.(or spit ups) It is also low cal.

It's all just a matter of personal preference. I actually have short hair and guys such as it. And i prefer a guy with short hair over a guy with long hair because long curly hair tends to make guys look also girly.
