Only women are supposed to cover their head in prayer, and our hair counts. So.... I guess my hair is a blessing. If you don't believe me, read the Bible.

I would like to answer this question but I do not want to offend you with some really sarcastic remarks about being blessed by spinning around on my left foot while yelling "oooobaaah, oooooobaaaah" and being given the lottery numbers before the drawing. I just don't think I should do that, it's just to impolite.
I pass on the head covering and blessing question.

I cover my head during religious services. I am not Muslim, I am a Christian (Baptist). I wear a circular lace covering over the crown of my head. It is called a "prayer cap."
This practice is mentioned in 1 Corinthians 11:5-6, "But any woman who prays or prophesies without something on her head brings shame to her head. In fact, she may as well shave her head. A woman should wear something on her head. It is a disgrace for a woman to shave her head or cut her hair. But if she refuses to wear something on her head, let her cut off her hair." (CEV) Our pastor only requires them if we are going to be in the pulpit.
As far as blessings go, I have always been truly blessed. I look at covering my head the same as any other act of obedience to God. Take care.

I do not wear hats except when the temperature is in the 20's. The Lord has blessed me with a beautiful head of hair and I never cover it.

I am a Muslim woman - used to be Christian actually. I started covering my hair a few years ago. It takes time to get to the point where you wanna do it for one sole purpose - to please Allah.
It's been a blessing to me every single day because not a day passes that someone doesn't look at me with curiosity and probably wonder "isn't she hot?" or that someone realizes that I'm human just like everyone else even though I look different. My scarf is a form of silent evangelism for me. Another reason is that I tended to act differently when my hair was not covered and I was also treated differently - guys flirted more and I used to do so also. With my scarf I am reminded of my purpose in life and that is to worship Allah. I am treated differently now by men. They see me for who I am and not for what I am. I do get smiles but not the "oh baby" kind. They are the "I respect you" kind. My body is covered in loose clothing and my hair is covered also. I'm seen as a person, not as a sex object, not as a flirtatious, sexy woman.
Hope this answers your question. I am happy to be covering my hair and my body. I do it to please Allah, to respect myself, and to preserve my chastity and dignity. And it works! :)

Many Old Traditional Churches have the ladies hair covered...this is a tradition left over from bygone days.................
The idea was that a woman's hair would be such a distraction to the men that they would be unable to concentrate on PRAYERS.
Backward Cults often still INSIST on ladies hair covering-- but in that case, like in the middle east religions, it is simply a way of keeping females ""down"".

In the Islamic faith, some women cover their hair when they go outside because the hair symbolized beauty. and they wanna save their beauty for their husbands. so only their husbands can see their hair. covering the hair gives the woman a sense of power over who can lust after her.
