Oxo cubes and Bovril . If you add worchester sauce and a small bit of tomato sauce it will really bring out the beef flavour ( believe it or not ) .

It's your stock that lacks flavor and that ruins it all.

Buy some neck bones and put them on a cookie sheet in the oven at 350 until the bones begin to blacken. Then transfer them to a soup pot, add water...at least 2-3 quarts, add salt, pepper, carrots, onions, celery, a bay leaf and simmer for a minimum of 2 hours. Strain the broth and throw out everything that was in there..except the clear broth and use this broth for your stew...or for gravy...or add new veggies to it and make a soup of some sort. Once you have the broth...you can do a whole lot. It's the bones that give the flavor not the meat. And the charring of the bones helps immensely to intensify the flavor.

Beef Base, or you could also try cooking the bones with the stew (just make sure to remove them)

Beef stock, or any meat stock. Basically anything that can enhance the flavour of beef.
