I'm not a Catholic, but everyone knows the Pope is chosen by the College of Cardinals in a vote!

The Pope's job is then to take over dispensing religion as if he were acting for Jesus or Peter or Paul or more than likely Constantine.

a serious question deserves a serious answer. Unfortunately, i'm not so good at that, but i'll try. The pope is Elected by the college of Cardinals. Catholics believe that the Holy Spirit guides this election. Often, people confuse the holiness of the Person, with the holiness of the Position, which is why many people seem angry about this subject. There have been many rotten popes (some down right BAAAAD), however, the "infalliblity" of a pope refers not to his personal holiness, but rather in teaching the catholic faith and catholic morality. With a good set of history books, one is hard pressed to truly find any instances where the church changed it's position (on faith and morals) from one thing to an entirely other thing. (Understanding, and definitions of things of faith and morals has "evolved" over time, but that is a different kind of change). I recommend Warren Carrol's History books.Back to your question, the Catholic Church takes literally Jn 16:13- Jn 14:26 - Lk 10:16 - 1TM 3:15 - ACTS 15:28 - MT 16:18, in light of those, the catholic church does believe that the Holy Spirit guides the church, in spite of man's fallen and sinful tendencies. Hope that helps. Check out Catholics United for the Faith (CUF)

Yes, the Pope is Chosen By God.

Whenever a Papal election is held, the College of Cardinals first pray to the Holy Spirit For Intervention in their selection.

The Pope is chosen by Cardinals, inspired by God to make a good choice.

In the whole "God's in control" philosophy pretty much everyone in power is chosen by God for some reason or another.

Not only is the pope chosen by God, if God doesn't like what the pope is doing he can fire him.

Nobody else can do that.

On another matter, nobody has yet claimed that "WhyNotAskDon" is infallible. He still doesn't know how to properly spell the word "pope".

Article 891 of the Catholic Faith states that the poop is INFALLIBLE.

without further research I do believe it is safe to say the every catholic MUST believe the poop in the Vatican is chosen.

(there are at this moment 4 popes-- including Pope Chinooda the third,)

The cardinals gathering at a Papal Conclave pray for the inspiration of the Holy Spirit in choosing the new Pope.

At the same time, the worldwide Catholic Church also prays that the cardinals will follow the inspiration of the Holy Spirit in their choice.

With love in Christ.

thank you for this question. I truthfully could no longer have self belief that somebody mentioned that for the time of their answer. besides i comprehend God hears my prayers and that i'm Catholic. What kills me is they (Protestants alongside with Fundamentalist/Evangelical, "Born back") kinds ask for human beings to wish for them that's asking intercession yet of guy on an identical time as us Catholics do the comparable element yet with the saints and the Blessed mom.
