The best thing, and my favorite things I got when we got married, was MONEY $$$ and Gift Cards. If they like to eat out a lot, get them a gift card to a nice restaurant. I liked those gifts the best because we could use the money for what we needed... not a gift that we'd have to return because we had no use for it.
There has to be something on their gift registry that would be a nice gift and that you could buy them. Maybe... I don't know... there has to be something on their registry somewhat normal and in your price range.

I'm typically against gift cards as gifts, but I would say that a gift card to someplace like Olive Garden would be perfect in this case. $40 would be a very nice gift and it would allow them to possibly get several meals out of one gift card.
If that's out, then go ahead and get them things on their registry. If they want Q-tips, get them Q-tips, along with some other things from it.
If the cookbook is the exact same one that you got them, then simply bring it back to the store and exchange it for another one and give them that. One can never have too many cookbooks.
Good luck to you. : )

personally if i were you i would stick to the regestry or go for a gift card you can now get a gift card from walgreens that lets them choose where they want to eat at they have a choice of like 6 or 7 restraunts on each card if nothing else sounds like money might be a little tight and what new couple can't use money for their wedding you may even want to put them up at your local hotel's honeymoon sweet the night of the wedding

Go to Christmas Tree Shop if they have one near you. I would make up a basket with kitchen utensils(they're usually $1 each) put the cookbook in there. Get a nice serving dish. Maybe wine glasses. Think cooking theme. I do this now for all my gifts, and everyone looks forward to what I've come up with this time. I've done Margarita night baskets, romantic night basket, sports basket, cooking basket, etc. They're cheap, and they look nice. Good luck

get them some thing like a water filter it is from brita or get thema fish. or how about going to target and getting them a dvd . or something it's at least under $40 bucks or maybe you could take them out . but if none of this works out it's not bad to give a card with$32 bucks in it and write in the letter that sorry it's not much but couldn't think of what to get you unless you buy a dvd player with a dvd in it but if i were you i would not buy a computer amagine taking a computer to a wedding no i don't think so . but good luck and i hope you have fun . god bless you and praying for you jesus loves you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get them some stuff from Hallmark- like a guestbook, memory book, photo book....etc. I know there isn't enough time for this....but for my grandparents 40th anniversary- we had a painted nice plaque that everyone signed at the reception- and even though my grandpa passed on 5 years ago.... my grandma has that hanging up as you come into the house. It's sort of like a guestbook- to have forever and hang up on your wall......pretty neat.....
Hope you think of something.

A nice set of sheets
Bath towels and face clothes
Oven mitts and potholders
Table cloth
Bed Comforter
If the cookbook is different than the one for the shower, give it to them anyway. People have more than one cookbook.

I would say since their young money would be the best thing. Maybe you can get them a gift card to their favorite restaraunt.
