They are the clowns of the cat world--
anyone have a funny story to share about that?
We got ours from the Humane Society and he thinks he is a dog. He greets us at the front door, he begs for food like a dog, he plays fetch, he "talks" to you when you talk to him, he walks on a leash, he comes when called and mothers other animals although he is a male.
He is very special!

Actually, he came with his own name. The people who surrendered him to the shelter gave him up because he would not stay out of the baby's crib. He LOVES babies in all forms-- human or animal.
We were going to re-name him, but he would not take anything but his own name, which is "Zero".
He is grey with light stripes and a cougar face.

My youngest daughter's cat is an Abyssinian female. She is also gray with stripes and spots, and gold eyes. She too will walk on a leash, and come running when you grab it from it's peg. There are 3 boys in this house-11, 9 and 7. They all spend a good amount of the day mauling this cat, and she just takes everything, except "overloving" she gets from the 7 year old-for which she will scratch him. She talks all the time, and tries continuously to convince us that she's starving to get extra feedings. Her favorite games are running derbys around the living room (12 X 28 feet so she can get up a LOT of steam), usually played at 4 a.m.. She was actually an abandoned kitten. Someone left her in my daughter's apartment hallway when they moved. And she was half starved. It took almost a year to get her guts settled down so that she wasn't stinking them out of the house every time she farted. But she still gets bad cysts on her face from a chronic gum infection. Nothing the vet has prescribed will work for longer than a month. When the kids have bugged her too much, Sam will go into armadillo mode, roll up into a tight ball and not even peak out until she feels safe! Quite cute. She also has a nasty habit of "claiming" territory by spraying. Nothing has broken her of this habit to date.

I am jealous! I dont have an Abyssinian but I wish I had one. I saw one just one time a few years back and it was a very elegant, beautiful cat. I wish you could post his picture.
